Another participant at the upcoming 39th Tokyo Motor Show. “Hygenius” is a fuel cell hybrid vehicle from Mercedes-Benz. The car will utilize fuel cell technology, in combination with an electric motor, to make it run without the gas (or diesel).
At low speeds, the motor takes the power from the battery alone. But at high speed, it will use both fuel cell and battery simultaneously. According to the company, the fuel cell could also serve as a mobile power source, as its 66 kW of electrical power is sufficient to keep several detached houses supplied with power.
