Unlike the other two tutorials, we’re not going to use WinAmp plugin this time. It’s not because there is no Winamp plugin to do what we want, infact, there are many of them. But almost all of them require us to have an FTP account. I’m sure most of us that currently using free website or free blog site don’t have access to the FTP.

Instead of plugin, we’re going to use a little software called PlaylistNation. This one is very easy to install. I only took 5 minutes to download, install, register, and display my current playlist (not just one song) on my site.

Okay, first, go to their website, and download the software (click Download). Next, install the software. It will automatically run the program after the installation finished.

Now you have to register yourself. Don’t worry, it’s free. The program will, again, automatically open your browser window and take you into their registration page. Once you finish with your registration, you can log into your account. So log in.

On the left sidebar, click on Get The HTML link.

Copy the HTML code. Edit your web page, and paste the code from PlaylistNation wherever you want to display your current playlist. Save your page.

That’s it. Now browse through the page (where you put the HTML code). If you do it correctly, you’ll your current playlist there. This is what it looks like on my site (right sidebar).

Incase you didn’t know about WinAmp yet (I doubt it!), WinAmp is on of the best (and most popular too) MP3 player software for Windows. Today, WinAmp has grown a lot, for just a traditional player for MP3 music file format, into a media player center. Wide-range support for many media files format (including movie or video format), plugin support which let developer to freely extend the ability of WinAmp, great visualization, and much more.

Back on the topic. To display WinAmp current playing song on IRC client, I’m using AMIP Now Playing for mIRC. It supports many IRC client, from mIRC, PIRCH, Klient, Bersirc, and other IRC clients. If that’s not enough. AMIP Now Playing for mIRC also suppors full player control from mIRC, playlist search, clipboard integration, HTTP, and dynamic image signatures.

If you’re using instant messenger, you might want to display you’re WinAmp currently playing song on your instant messenger status. This way, your friend might get to know you better since they’ll see what song you’re currently listening (which probably your favourite songs). You can also tease your friends by playing some rare songs or the newest single from your friend’s favourite singer :p

Fortunately, now there are already a bunch of plugins for WinAmp outthere that make displaying current playing song on instant messenger status possible. Here are some of them.

For Yahoo! Messenger, I’m using WA2Y – YM Status Changer v0.96. It’s one of the plugin for Yahoo! Messenger that really works. I’ve tried two other plugins with no success before I ended up with WA2Y. It’s highly customizable too. You can change the status format (how WinAmp current playing song displayed on YM status message) and the type of status for YM if you quit WinAmp.

Other WinAmp plugin to display current playing song on Yahoo! Messenger:

• YM Status Mixer
• Y! Amp
• YMS Status Changer
• yStatus
• MS Gramp

Next, MSN Messenger. My choice is MSN Messenger 7 Current Playing Song. Eventhough the title of this plugin is long, but this one installed without any problem at all. No configuration dialog too. Simply install and play.

• AudiStream RC1 – for AOL Instant Messenger, American Online, and Yahoo! Messenger
