Measures 34.7 x 109.6 x 15mm, Samsung’s new YP-VP1 Portable Voice Recorder sports a 1.1-inch color LCD screen, built-in FM tuner, media player supporting MP3 and WMA audio formats, and line-in recording. It also comes with its own digital camera module which, together with VoicePix function, allows users to take a photos and then give them a voice tag. Pretty nice feature. The device itself runs on a single AAA battery, but not sure how long it will last before you have to replace it…

Logitec LIC-SR500 Voice Recorder

LIC-SR500 is the new IC-based portable voice recorder from Logitec (not Logitech!) Japan. It is capable of recording up to 136 hours of conversation in LP mode with 2GB microSD card (4GB one is also supported). Measures 33 x 117 x 15mm, LIC-SR500 uses 2 AAA batteries which provides the juice for up to 15 hours. If interested, the 40g device is available in three different flavours: Classic White, Black, and Pink.

Sony To Release PCM-D50 Digital Voice Recorder

Sony finally ends the era of its popular PCM-D1 Digital Voice Recorder and let loose its successor to the wild market, the PCM-D50. Eventhough the design looks almost exactly as PCM-D1, the new PCM-D50 does bring several wonderful enhancements. First, its overall audio recording quality has been improved with a Linear PCM 96kHz 24bit. Second, you’ll now be able to change the orientation of PCM-D50’s two internal microphones for better recording. Finally, the device now works longer with up to 24 hours recording using only 4 AA batteries. Sadly, it still comes with 4GB onboard storage, just like its predecessor.

Olympus Voice-Trek V-61 and V-51 Dictaphones

Olympus presents two new dictaphones under its Voice-Trek range, the V-61 and V-51 models. The Voice-Trek V-51 comes with 1GB of internal memory and allows up to 55 hours and 45 minutes of recording in LP mode, while the V-61 has twice of storage and let’s you record over 277 hours and 35 minutes of audio. Wonderful, isn’t it?

Measures 94.8 x 38. x 11 mm and weighs 47 grams, these two Voice-Trek dictaphones support MP3 and WMA audio formats and can be connected to either PC or Mac computer via USB 2.0 port.

Sanyo Xacti ICR-PS28RM Digital Recorder

I’m thinking of making my own podcast (not for this blog though) and currently looking for a decent voice recorder. And I think this Xacti ICR-PS28RM from Sanyo really deserves into my consideration list. This digtal PCM dictaphone is able to record voice in a nice audio CD quality (in either MP3 or PCM format) and features a 2GB of internal memory, USB port, and music playback capability (MP3, PCM, WMA, and DRM10-WMA). Powered by one single AAA battery, you can use it to record your own voice for up to 25 hours nonstop. Too bad there’s no info on pricing and availability yet.

Olympus DS-50 Handheld Recorder

If you’re a podcaster, or at least a podcaster wanna-be, you need a handy pocket voice recorder like the Olympus DS-50. Of course, most MP3 players nowadays, including iPod, already have that kind of feature, however, most of all are don’t have a good recording quality. But that’s not all. What make the DS-50 a must have is that it has a voice-activated super-sensitive sensor which can naturally eliminate background noises. The microphone is detachable as well. All of the voice will be recorded directly onto its built-in 1GB hard drive which is enough for hours of interview. Finally, with the provided USB connectivity, you can simply plug the recorder onto your computer’s USB port and transfer the recording there.

Also comes with built-in music player (MP3 and WMA), Olympus DS-50 Handheld Recorder is powered by an AAA battery which provides up to 275 hours of recording time. The price is rather high though, $485 each.

Cuckoo IP – Voice Messaging Cuckoo Clock

All I can say is, this is a creative product. It combined the old-style Cuckoo Clock with the high-tech voice messaging system. Dubbed “Cuckoo IP”, it works like an answering machine. It can be dialled, either from mobile or landline phone, and one can leave a voice message there. After that, they can select what time they want that message to be delivered. Now here comes the cool part. At that arranged time, the cuckoo will emerge from the clock and broadcast your message. Pretty cute isn’t it?

Technically, each cuckoo clock is assigned with a specific number / ID. The device inside the clock then uses networking protocols to communicate with a server and every minute, it’d check whether there’s any message for that ID and current time-slot. If found, it’d request the sound file and broadcast it.

FaceCommunicator – Live Animated Faces On Your Phone

This is really cool. A new technology that can add animated faces to instant messaging, networked gaming, and other real-time communications used on mobile phones and PCs has been developed by Oki Electric Industry Co. Ltd. Named “FaceCommunicator”, it uses the same technology as their previous face recognition software that recognizes handhelds’ owners. According to the company, FaceCommunicator would be useful for maintaining privacy and security during first time “face-to-face” communications over video phones, mobile phones, or in IM or chat-room chats on the Internet. Furthermore, Oki said that the facial animations would also let users express emotions that might be hard to express in words.

To generate and control transmitted animated faces, the technology can be triggered by four different sources of user input: video images from PC or mobile phone cameras, voice, text, and mouse/keyboard commands.

Both the animated face and a background image can be selected by the user to suit the need of the moment. Additionally, certain of the animated faces can move their eyebrows and mouths as though talking, which adds a virtual reality dimension to communications, according to Oki.

PeTalk Voice Pals – Pets Best Friend

You know, dogs and cats can be lonely too if you leave them alone in the house too often. They might even get depressed and become sick because of that. One solution for this problem is using the PeTalk Voice Pal device. It’s a phone-shaped device where you can store a 10-second message for your pet. The message will then play back at set intervals until you arrive home and turn it off. Just record your voice and place the PeTalk on a table or anywhere your pet frequents. You can also hang it on their cage if they are confined or recuperating.

PeTalk will run automatically. Your dog or cat won’t have to do anything to turn it on. But since they won’t be able to turn it off either, please make sure first that your pet recognize (and love) your voice.
