NEC has just updated its VersaPro series laptop with a new line of Type VE. Powered by a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 processor, this 15.1-inch notebook boasts a 1GB of main memory, an 80GB of hard drive, and a display with a resolution of 1280 x 800. Moreover, it comes with an “Eco Button” which automatically lower its energy consumption by 20% by decreasing the CPU speed and screen brightness. Obviously, this eco-friendly feature would save the battery life as well.

NEC unleashed a new business-oriented laptop, “VersaPro UltraLite Type VC”, that comes with over 37 different configurations to choose from. I’m definitely not going to list ‘em one by one here, so let’s just take a peek at one of the configs… Measures 217 x 268 x 27mm and weighs 958 grams, it features an Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 (SLV) processor, a 1GB of main memory, a 40GB of hard drive, and pre-installed Windows Vista (or XP Professional) operating system. All of the notebooks also boast an impressive battery life of 14.5 hours, which hopefully is a fact, not just a marketing gimmick.

Now it’s time for NEC to show off its Santa Rosa’s laptop. This one is the VersaPro Type VD model and it is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor and a 512MB of main memory. It comes with a 15-inch LCD display with a resolution of WXGA. I’ll post more detail when it becomes available.

NEC has just started taking pre-order for its upcoming BTO (Built To Order) laptop, the VersaPro UltraLite Type VC, in Japan. The base configuration contains an Intel Core Duo U2400 (1.06GHz) ULV processor, a 512MB of main memory, a 12.1-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1024×768, and an internal battery with an impressive up to 14.5 hours of usage. The notebook weighs at just 970grams, but it can handle pressure up to 150kg on the case. Wow.

Weight at 1.96kg, the VY16E LV-W laptop will cost you 2137 EUR if you decide to get one. Maybe I’ll wait one from Toshiba…
