Another product showcased by Sony at its CES 2008’s booth is Nav-U series in-car navigation system. All of the member of this GPS series sports a thin body, a touchscreen color display, up to 2GB of onboard storage, and a Memory Stick media slot. Some of them come with integrated TMC receiver as well, providing real-time traffic report and let you avoid traffic jam.

Land Rover will debut its new LRX concept car at upcoming Detroit Auto Show event next month. This would be an interesting vehicle for geeks since it comes with an iPhone dock at the center of its console. Heck, if you see the pic below, you will be even able to use the iPhone to turn LRX’s engine ON! Too bad I live far away from Detroit, if you’re nearby, be sure to attend that event when it started and check out this cool concept car yourself.

“DPX-U77 Supreme” is the latest creation from Kenwood. This car entertainment system provides a complete multimedia experience for you on the road. From digital audio playback (MP3, WMA, AAC, and WMV DRM), AM/FM radio, AudioCD player, to iPod (there’s a built-in iPod dock), it has them all. Furthermore, DPX-U77 also sports a USB port for more external storage connectivity.

Kenwood DPX-U77 Supreme car entertainment system is currently available in Japan with a price tag of 39,000 Yen or about 3€30.

Tend to get lost on your travel? Well, you might need this, “SD776″ satellite navigation device from LG. But only if you live in Korea since it is preloaded with Korea’s region map from iNavi. Recently showcased during SEK 2007 event, the in-car satnav is powered by SiRF Star III GPS chipset and boasts built-in MP3 and video playback. It also sports an integrated T-DMB (Terrestrial – Digital Media Broadcast) receiver, allowing users to watch satellite broadcasted TV programme while driving. Nice!

Nissan recently introduced its latest SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) in Japan, the Dualis. But that kind of news alone simply won’t make its way to this blog. The thing that interest me is that the company has decided to ask Kawamori Shoji — the creator of Abio robot, as well as Macross and Robotech mangas — to design a robot which would represent the Dualis. Kenwood offers MNA-350, an in-dash entertainment device with built-in satellite navigation capabilities. Thin 2-din car radio comes with a CD player, a 3.5-inches color LCD display, iPod dock to playback your audio collection inside the iPod, and a SD card slot for storing the GPS maps data. Moreover, its audio player supports popular audio formats, including MP3, AAC, and WMA.

Fujitsu recently announced that its new GPS navigation system, “Eclipse AVN2210P”, will be released this spring with a price tag of $900. This satnav device comes with a double DIN-sized audio unit with a factory-fit console appearance that comes with the ability to attach the navigation section when required. If you’re afraid this expensive box will be stolen, you can simply de-attach it and carry the PND (Portable Navigation Device) with you once you’ve parked your car. Regarding specs, it features a 3.5-inch colors TFT LCD display, an integrated GPS antenna, build-in speakers, a SD memory card slot, Bluetooth connectivity, and a rechargeable battery.

Ever wonder what Intel would do if AMD beat ‘em all the way on CPU’s war? They probably would off to become a vehicle manufacturer! Okay, that might not really happen, but at least the company really did a wonderful job designing a high-end motorcycle loaded with high-tech goodies. To start with, the bike comes with a removable UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) completed with a camera mounted at the back. The UMPC acts as both virtual dashboard and a replacement for the standard rear-view mirror as drivers can easily switch from dashboard mode to rear cam display in a single press of a buton.

Other features include hi-speed 3G connectivity, integrated media player, and GPS navigation. Not sure what kind of OS it’d run, but the power engine will be an Intel’s quadcore processor at the very least.

This is probably too good to be true, but fortunately, it IS the real thing. This device, a home-made Nokia phone-driven remote control is able to control your car just like what you used to do with your R/C car back in your childhood. On the screen of the phone you can see a steering wheel, along with control for accelerating and braking. It takes advantage of the handset’s Bluetooth connectivity to wirelessly drive the car.

Hopefully, this concept phone can find its way to the production line.
