Starting from April 18th, you can expect to see three new models of Sony VAIO Type C laptop that comes with fashionable crocodile skin finished! It’s only available in Japan market though, but if you’re lucky to be there, you can purchase it for at least 800 EUR (about USD $1,050). You can also choose from three different crocodile skin colors — red, pink, and brown. Hmmm, I think this product will receive a lot of protest from animal lovers around the world…

After getting tired with my old Acer Travelmate 3274WXMi and its slow hard disk problem (it took almost 5 minutes to start the computer and another 5 minutes just to shut it down!), I finally bought a new laptop five days ago. Since I’ve been dreaming of a widescreen notebook, my choice came to this Sony Vaio VGN-FW139E/H which has a nice 16.4-inch display and a resolution of 1600 x 900 with support for 1080p Full HD resolution. Gorgeous, isn’t it?

The beautiful FW139E/H machine is powered by a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor, a Mobile Intel PM45 Express chipset, a 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphics engine, and a 3GB of DDR2 SDRAM. This combination of core hardware is perfect for my needs — web design, 2D graphics design, gaming, sound editing, and of course, web browsing. For the latter purpose, the laptop comes with a great 802.11a/b/g/n WiFI connectivity, but unfortunately, not for the original part of Intel Centrino 2 platform (Intel WiFI Link 5100), instead, the one from Atheros. I’d also use this gray-colored notebook for listening to the music and watching satellite TV broadcast. Yes, no video, I prefer to watch movie on my LCD TV.

Other features include a 250GB of SATA HDD, a DVD SuperMulti burner, a 2-in-1 media card reader (SD / Memory Stick Duo), an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam module, built-in 56kbps modem, Ethernet LAN, a Li-Ion battery that lasts for two and a half hours (its specs sheet mentioned up to 4 hours battery life though), and pre-installed Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. It weighs 6.6lbs and measures 15.1 x 10.3 x 1.5-inch.

Oh btw, VAIO VGN-FW139E/H notebook has Vista’s perfomance index score of 4.7. Not bad, right? If you want to buy it, the price is around $1,299 – $1,399.

Sony unveiled VAIO L VGC-LN70DB All-In-One Desktop PC during CEATEC 2008 event. This white-colored do-it-all computer is equipped with a 20.1-inch display and powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 processor, a 2GB of main memory, and a 500GB of hard drive. From the photos, it looks like VGC-LN70DB also comes with a slot-loading DVD drive, USB ports, audio ports, media card reader, and a nice-looking keyboard. It weighs 12.4kg and available immediately in Japan market.

Sony officially announced the release of its ultra-light VAIO TT notebook PC in States. At just 1.3kg, the 11.1-inch laptop carries an Intel Centrino 2 processor, Blu-Ray drive, and a HDMI port. You can also opt-in for a 128GB SSD if you want. It also offers various different colors — black, silk black, gold, and red — so you can easily find one which match your favourite shirt.

Sony VAIO TT laptop is retailed for $2,000 (basic), $2,700 (Blu-Ray), and $2,750 (128GB SSD).

Sony officially introduced two new VAIO series laptops, the VAIO CS and VAIO NS. Mainly targetted multimedia enthusiasts, both notebooks feature an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, an Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics engine, and Blu-Ray Combo Disc drives in some models. Onto the detail, Sony VAIO NS will come with a 15.4-inch display and three different flavours (nighfall blue, silk white, and granite silver). The price starts from $650, while the one with Blu-Ray is retailed for around $1,000.

As for Sony VAIO CS laptop, it sports a 14.1-inch display and available in four glossy colors (sangria, cosmpolitan, dove, and black), along with a standard black matte finish. $920 is the minimum you have to pay for this machine. Add the Blu-Ray, and you have to pay at least $1,070 for it.

The new Sony’s laptops will be available starting this fall.

Another new laptop from Sony, this one is the newly born member of its VAIO Type C series laptop — VGN-CS60B. Available immediately with a nice price tag of €1,000 (about $1,418), the cool-looking sexy notebook is powered by a 2.26Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor, a 2GB of main memory, a 160BG of hard drive, an Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics engine, and a 14.1-inch WXGA (1280×800) display. It is also equipped with Bluetooth and WiFI connectivities, FeliCa port, integrated webcam module, a DVD SuperMulti burner, and pre-installed Office Personal 2007 software. Sounds good.

Powered by a 2.66Ghz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor and a 4GB of main memory, Sony VAIO Type R is probably one of the most powerful all-in-one PC outthere. If you don’t think so, what if I tell you that this monster also comes with a 1TB (yes, terrabyte!) of hard drive, an nVidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics engine, Blu-Ray burner, and HDMI out port. The display is awesome too, thanks to the 25.5-inch (1920×1080) Full HD LCD with Adobe RGB Support. Like VAIO Type A laptop, Type R is available in two versions as well — one with Adobe Photo Suite Edition, other with Adobe Video Suite Edition.

Sony VAIO Type A is a wonderful 18.4-inch laptop. Powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53Ghz), this notebook features a 2GB of main memory, a 500GB of hard drive, and an nVidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics engine. It is available in two models (AW70 and AW50), but both of them come equipped with a Blu-Ray burner, a 1920×1080 Full HD LCD with Adobe RGB, a 802.11a/b/g/n WiFI connectivity, and HDMI out port. The difference between each model lies on its software package. One has Image Adobe Suite, while other comes pre-installed with Video Adobe Suite. The choice is yours.

The basic idea of an all-in-one PC is packing anything that made up a computer into the LCD monitor, thus making them more compact and not cluttering your workspace. One of its working example is the new VAIO Type L PC. Inside its 24-inch display, there lies a 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a 2GB of main memory, a 500GB of HDD, an nVidia GeForce 9300M graphics engine, and an integrated digital TV tuner. Even more, it is also equipped with Bluetooth and WiFI connectivity, HDMI input, and various handy apps, such as Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop Element 6. As you may already predict, the price won’t come cheap. VAIO Type L will have a price tag of €1,800 when it goes on sale this November.

Note that a 21-inch and 15.4-inch version are also available. With cheaper price of course…

Sony is readying an army of new VAIO laptops this month. One of them will be released to public in the next two weeks (September 20th), the VAIO Type J (VGC-JS50B/S). Powered by an Intel Dual Core E2200 (2.2GHz) processor, the notebook boasts a 20.1-inch widescreen WSXGA+ (1680×1050) display, a 2GB of main memory, a 320GB of hard drive, an Intel X4500MHD graphics engine, a built-in webcam module, a DVD SuperMulti burner, and Felica Port. Sounds good enough for the pros.

If interested, you can purchase Sony VAIO VGC-JS50B/S laptop for $975 (about $1,377) which include a pre-installed Office Personal 2007 software. But if you don’t want that, you can grab VGC-JS50/S model instead and save €100 off (and maybe spend it for this bag).
