At Hong Kong Electric Fair 2009, Kinstone showcased KS-UMD070VB UMPC. This 7-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen device is powered by a 1200Mhz VIA C7-M processor and features a 1GB of main memory (expandable up to 2GB), a 30GB of hard drive, an integrated 300K webcam module (a 1.3MP camera is available optionally), AC97 sound chipset with SRS Stereo Sound system, Ethernet LAN, and 802.11b/g WiFI connectivity. Moreover, measures 22.8 x 16.3 x 3.4cm, it is also equipped with three USB 2.0 ports, SD/MMC media card slot, 2000MA Lithium battery that provides up to 3 hours of usage, and either Windows XP or Linux operating system.

Samsung has just unveiled the next generation of Q1 Ultra UMPC, the NP-Q1EX. Powered by a 1.2Ghz Nano ULV U2500 processor, the ultra mobile machine features a 7-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600, a 2GB of DDR2 main memory, a Chrome9 HC graphics engine, and a 60GB of hard drive. For navigation purpose, the device comes integrated with the famous SiRF Star GPS receiver, so as long as you carry NP-Q1EX, the chance of yourself getting lost in the middle of the city is set to minimum. Other features include 802.11 b/g WiFI connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, a 3-in-1 media card slot, an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam module, and a 4-cell lithium battery providing up to 4.5 hours of battery life. Samsung retails this NP-Q1EX UMPC for $775.99.

Having an all-in-one devices is probably what every businessman or professional needs — one machine that can handle every task that needs to be done. Office works, emails, presentations, and even some entertainments to spend the afternoon. The new ViliV S5 UMPC/MID from YuKyung Technologies is one of the answer. Recently displayed in 2009 International CES in Las Vegas, this ultra mobile PC is powered by Intel Menlow platform with Atom Z520 processor, a 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, and a 30GB of hard drive (60GB version is also available), which is decent enough to help everyone finish their jobs. It has a nice 4.8-inch LCD screen, big enough to watch movie on the go. As for the operating system, the Windows XP will take care of everything under the hood.

Other features include a Bluetooth/WiFI/HSDPA/WiBro connectivity, DMB (Digital Media Broadcast) receiver, GPS navigation, and a battery that lasts for up to 6 horus of playback time and up to 200 hours of standby time. No words on pricing at the moment.

Trigem a.k.a TG, a Korean manufacturer, recently released their new UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) device called LLUON Mobbit PS400. Powered by Windows XP Home Edition operating system, this MID sports a 1.33Ghz Intel Atom Z520 processor, a 4.8-inch WSVGA touchscreen display, a 1GB of main memory, a 30GB of hard drive storage (or 16GB of SSD), and a host of connectivity options, including Wimax, WiFI, and Bluetooth. PS400 also offers a built-in digital TV tuner and an integrated 2 megapixel camera module, all inside its 375 grams’ body.

Measures 166 x 88 x 21mm, Trigem’s LLUON Mobbit PS400 is a nice companion for your Christmas holiday or vacation’s trip.

BenQ finally unleashed S6 in Italy market. Being the first Atom-based MID which hits the Western, it surelly brings a lot of excitement (and expectation). Runs on Linux Midinux OS, the device offers a 800Mhz Intel Atom UL11L processor, a 512MB of main memory, a 2GB of SSD, and a 4.8-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 800×480 and 262k colors. Moreover, it is also equipped with microSD memory card slot, along with a wide-range of connectivity options, including HSDPA/3G, WiFI, USB, and Bluetooth 2.0.

BenQ S6 UMPC can be purchased for 429 EUR or around US$629.

Measures 228 x 135 x 25mm and weighs 830 grams (incl. battery), Viliv S7 is one of the many UMPCs displayed during IFA 2008 in Germany. It’s obvious since compact laptop / mini notebook is this year’s current trend, thanks to Asus’ Eee PC. Regarding S7, powered by an Intel Atom Centrino SLT processor (1.3Ghz/1.6Ghz/1.86Ghz), it sports a 7-inch touchscreen WSVGA display, a 30GB/60GB of hard drive, and a handy integrated SiRF Star III GPS receiver for built-in satnav capabilities. Like many UMPCs outthere, this one also has a a wide-range of mobile connectivity options, including Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiBro, HSDPA, and 802.11b/g WiFI.

Other features include a QWERTY keyboard, a built-in DMB TV tuner, H.264 1080i/720p support, and up to 8 hours of battery life with over 9 hours of continous movie playback. As for the operating system, users can choose between Windows XP Home or Windows Vista.

Viliv S7 UMPC is scheduled to hit the store in the first quarter of 2009.

Measures 259 x 180 x 25 ~ 35mm and weighs 1.4kg (incl. battery), Averatec Buddy HS-103 UMPC sports a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, a 1GB of 533Mhz DDR2 main memory (up to 2GB), an 80GB of hard disk, and a 10.2-inch AveraBrite LCD with a resolution of 1024 x 600. If you love to chat, you can connect to the internet everytime, thanks to its WiFI support, and then show off your face using its integrated 1.3MP webcam module. Other features include a pre-installed Windows XP Home Edition OS and up to 5 hours of battery life.

Averatec Buddy HS-103 UMPC is available immediately in Korea market.

Samsung officially announced two new Q1 UMPCs, the Q1U-CMXP and Q1UP-V. Both are ready to roll in the U.S market. The former, Q1U-CMXP is powered by a 1.33Ghz Intel Core Solo U1500 processor and features a 2GB of main memory, a 802.11b/g WiFI connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, and an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam module. It is retailed for €930 (about $1,447).

Regarding Q1UP-V UMPC, it offers the same specs, but with the additional high-speed 3G HSDPA connectivity. All for €960 (about $1,493).

Following the Japan release, Acer’s Aspire One Netbook has finally arrived on US shores. Right now, the UMPC is available in two color variants: Sapphire Blue and Seashell White colors. Don’t like ‘em? Don’t worry, the company plans to release another two flavours later — the Golden Brown and Diamond Black. And once again, right now, there are three different models of Aspire One, with price ranged from $379 up to $449. Acer Japan yesterday announced its brand new Atom-based UMPC, Aspire One. Measures 249 x 170 x 29mm and weighs at just 1.1kg, the 8.9-inch (WSVGA, led backlight) mini laptop offers a 1.60GHz N270 Atom processor, a 1GB of main memory (512MB onboard), an integrated 0.3MP webcam, a 120GB o hard drive, Ethernet port, memory card reader, and a 802.11b/g WiFI connectivity.

No words on the exact release date, but Aspire One will be available in black and white color once it releases.
