Panasonic recently unleashed its latest high-end notebook called Toughbook W8 Premium Edition. Not much detail about this laptop for now, except that it’d feature Intel’s 80GB X-25M SSD (Solid State Disk) with a 250MB/sec reading speed and 70MB/sec writing speed. Once available, W8 Premium will be available in three different lid covers, including black, silver, and pink splash. The latter looks fine for me.

Panasonic’s laptop is not very popular here in Indonesia. But from what I’ve heard, most Toughbook’s users are happy with their notebooks. Which mean, you can expect the machine to do their job just fine, without stupid error and other bothering problem.

Panasonic introduces two new Toughbook 52 series laptops — CF-52EW1AJS and CF-52EW1AAS. Both 15.4-inch notebook PC are powered by the new Intel Centrino 2 platform. To be precise, these two machines runs on 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processor and Mobile Intel PM45 Express chipset. Other features include a WUXGA (1920 x 1200) display, a 1GB of DDR2 SDRAM, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 graphics card, a 160GB of SATA hard drive, and both WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivities.

Will Panasonic win the Centrino 2 war? Let’s wait for the result couple months later.

Finally, a mini laptop that doesn’t feel breakable. Coming from Panasonic, this one is the rugged Toughbook CF-U1 UMPC, one of the smallest notebook PC on Panasonic’s Toughbook family. Fortunately, it carries an impressive specs as well: a 16GB SSD (removable), 1 GB of main memory, Windows XP or Windows Vista OS, a backlit QWERTY keyboard, and a a 5.6-inch WSVGA sunlight-viewable LCD touchscreen with anti-reflective screen treatment and white-LED backlighting.

On the inside, the ultra mobile handheld PC comes with a fan-less all weather design, along with a twin hot-swappable batteries that makes it possible to replace the battery without shutting down the machine. Moreover, its whole body is protected by magnesium-alloy chassis, thus keeping the data and hardware safe from accidental drops and bumps.

According to the company, Panasonic Toughbook CF-U1 UMPC will start shipping in August with a price tag of $2,499 (about €1,583).

Panasonic adds another two of its laptops onto the wagon of Santa Rosa, both under the famous Toughbook range. Those notebooks are Toughbook CF-74 (picture above) and CF-52 models. Features include an Intel 965 Express chipset, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, an integrated 802.11n WiFI connectivity support, and an Intel Turbo Memory cache that speeds up the loading process. Well, not much about the detail, but you can expect all the goodies from Centrino Pro laptop to be available on these rugged machine.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 laptop is expected to hit the store in June, while the Toughbook CF-52 will follow short after in July.

The Toughbook CF-08 is the new rugged tablet PC from Panasonic. Being a rugged machine means this thing won’t break even after you drop it (either accidentally or on pupose) from up to 1 meters of height. You can also expect it to survive extreme weather conditions, sich as rain, snow, dust, etc.

Along with the tough protection, you’ll get a 10.4-inch XGA touch-screen display, a 312MHz Intel XScale PXA270 processor, WiFI, Bluetooth, USB, Ethernet LAN, Windows CE OS, and up to 14 hours of usage, depend on the brightness level of the display.

Panasonic is going to add built-in EvDO support, presented by Sprint Mobile Broadband services, onto its rugged business laptops, the Toughbook W5 and T5. Users will be able to access Sprint Power Vision Network in more than 220 communities and 725 airports across the US, and enjoy the high-speed internet browsing. According to the press release, the laptops will support the latest EvDO Revision A enhancements, allowing 450 to 800kbps download speed and 300 to 400kbps upload speeds.

Regarding specs, Panasonic Toughbook W5 laptop features a 12.1-inch anti-glare LCD display, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive, and up to 8 hours of battery life. It weighs 3.1 pounds and comes with Wireless PCI Express Mini Card Embedded Module from Sierra Wireless. As for the Toughbook T5, this convertible notebook has a 12.1-inch touchscreen display, an ergonomic hand strap, and up to 10 hours of battery. This one weighs 3.5 pounds.

Panasonic Toughbook W5 and T5 laptops with embedded Sprint Mobile Broadband will be available next month at an estimated street price of $2,250.

Panasonic has just updated its ToughBook eLite series laptops and added various chassis colors to the W5 and Y5 models. Respectively, they will be retailed for $2,400 and $2,570. Both notebooks boast durable magnesium alloy cases and shock mounted hard drive. In addition, the Y5 also comes with a water resistant spill-through keyboard. The W5 will hit the market first this month, followed by the Y5 model in December.

Now let’s check the detail of Toughbook eLite W5 laptop. This 12.1-inch portable computer features an Intel Core Solo U1400 (1.2GHz) ULV processor, a 512MB of DDR2 RAM (expandable up to 1.5GB), an integrated Intel 945GMZ graphics engine with up to 128MB of shared memory, a 60GB of hard drive, and a DVD/CD-RW combo drive. It is also equipped with WiFI, Ethernet, and integrated 56K modem, along with an external video VGA out, two USB ports, a PCMCIA card, and SD card slot, as well as optional integrated EvDO and HSDPA support. Weighs 2.7 pounds, the notebook is available in various colors, including Steel Gray, Merlot, Galaxy Black, Glacier White, Blueprint, Rosehip and the new Crown Blue colors.

What about the eLite Y5 laptop? Comes in a slighly bigger screen — 14.1-inches –, Y5 is powered by an Intel Core Duo processor, a 512MB of RAM (also expandable up to 1.5GB), and an integrated 945GMS graphics engine. There are two USB ports, PCMCIA card slot, SD card slot, and a VGA out port included, along with built-in LAN and 56K modem and optional EvDO, HSDPA, and Bluetooth connectivity. Weighs 3.4 pounds and can be used for up to 6-hours before recharge, the notebook is available in six flavours — Steel Gray, Galaxy Black, Skylight Blue, Firehouse Red, Deepsea, and Bronze Brown.

Panasonic presents two new rugged mobile computers today, the Toughbook CF-30 laptop and Toughbook CF-19 tablet PC. Let’s talk about the laptop first. The CF-30, made of magnesium alloy and designed with shock-mounted HDD and touch screen, is suitable for those who do a lot of outdoor activities. Its 13.3-inch width screen, which delivers a brightness of 100 cd/m2, makes the machine quite portable and easy to bring with. Moreover, this laptop is certified to the MIL-STD 810F (military) standard, so it is guaranteed to withstand water drops, vibrations, shocks, and extreme temperatures.

On the inside, the Tougbook CF-30 laptop is powered by an Intel Core Duo processor, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 80GB of HDD, and a whole range of connectivity options, including WLAN, WWAN, and Bluetooth. It comes with built-in GPS capabilities and thanks to its integrated battery, the juice is ready for up to 6 hours of usage.

Weighs 8.2lbs, Panasonic will launch the Toughbook CF-30 laptop later in December. Price will be set around $4,700 and it will be available exclusively through authorized Panasonic Toughbook resellers nationwide.
