Another low-budget sub-laptop emerged. This time it comes from a UK-based company named Elonex. Called “ONE“, the small notebook PC aimed at children education. It is packed with wireless internet, email, and word processing capability; providing the children modern computing skill and access to online resources, as well as giving teachers a range of new teaching methods. The price to get one? Only £100. Quite affordable!

Along with KPC K58, Shuttle also showcased the new simple-and-smart computer KPC K48 during Computex 2008 Taipei. Aimed at home users, the energy-efficient (only 30W – 50W power consumption) K48 offers a compact, space-saver PC for accesing the internet via your home network (LAN or WiFI) and enjoying multimedia entertainment. Powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor, this machine is available as bare-bone PC.

Following the new trend of Intel Atom processor, Shuttle presented its latest mini PC wonder, the KPC K58, during Computex 2008. Being the successor of KPC (Korporate Perfect Cube) K45, this compact cubic-shaped computer targetted the same market — people whose looking for a small multimedia PC or a secondary household-purpose PC. Showcased during Computex 2008, Gigabyte M912 Netbook sports an 8.9-inch touchscreen display that can be rotated 180 degrees just like a tablet PC. For the storage, it uses a traditional 250GB HDD, but customers can opt-in for a Solid State Disk (up to 4GB) if they prefer. Furthermore, weighs at just 1.2kg, the mini notebook is also equipped with an ExpressCard slot, an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, and either Windows Vista or Linux operating system.

Not much detail about this huge and muscular tablet PC from TwinTek. But those who saw it on its booth during Computex 2008 event in Taipei must envy its rugged and durable body, along with a nice button layout on the front side. According to the company, this convertible laptop is designed for military use.

Another interested stuff showcased during Computex 2008 event, the Proview VD1-26W All-In-One LCD PC. Adopted high-perfomance touch panel, it allows users to use the provided pen for freehand drawing, text writing, or general PC operationing. Features include a response time of 5ms, a brightness of 300 nits, a contrast ratio of 1000:1, and a D-Sub input/output ports.

Powered by a 1.6Ghz VIA C7-M processor, HiVision NB1020 is a 10.2-inch netbook based on Linux operating system. Claimed as the world’s first high-perfomance low-cost eco-friendly smart Linux-based personal wireless device, the mini notebook features an 80GB of hard drive, a 512MB of DDR2 main memory, WiFI, Ethernet LAN, and a 3-in-1 media card reader (SD/MMC/MS). Moreover, weighs 1.4kg, NB1020 is also equipped with 3 x USB 2.0 ports, headphone & microphone jack, built-in microphone & speaker, and a 3-cell battery that lasts for up to 3 hours.

This is cute, a penguin-shaped USB Flash Drive from FruitsShop, a Taiwan-based manufacturer. Displayed during Computex 2008 event in Taipei, the disk features a USB 2.0 interface (compatible with USB 1.1), a data access LED indicator, a washable silicon, and a 100% bio-degradable (earth-friendly). No words on pricing and availability of this Penguin Driver.

Powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor, the Victorian-stlye luxury 14.1-inch S42 laptop from BenQ boasts an nVidia GeForce 9600M GS graphics engine, an integrated 2.0 megapixel webcam module, and an ultra vivid widecreen display with a response time of 8ms. Coated with an exclusive laminated color metal, the notebook is also equipped with a Hybrid Power technology that provides power optimization, a HDMI output that delivers high-definition digital audio and video, and finally, SRS TruSurround XT & SRS TruBass technology that offers clear and high-quality sound.

BenQ S42 laptop is expected to hit the store by the end of July. No words on pricing at the moment though.

Hmmm, this could be a solution for me whose currently looking for a LCD projector for my office. An unknown laptop, shown by ASUS on its Computex 2008’s booth, comes with a built-in mini projector! Business people would definitely love this handy feature as they can now make a presentation anytime anywhere. At least I do love it.
