Garmin presents two new satellite navigation systems with support for MSN Direct service, the StreetPilot c580 and Nuvi 680 models. This service provides any wireless-enabled portable device with dynamic content, such as real-time traffic information, gas prices, weather conditions, and movie schedules. It can also supply the GPS device with traffic jam-free shortest route to the preferred destination, avoiding traffic accidents, road closures, and construction. Automatic re-routed calculation is possible as well. However, MSN Direct service is currently available in U.S only.

Garmin StreetPilot c580 GPS Navigation, the successor of c550 model, can be purchased for $800. This include a one year free of MSN Direct service subscription. Once it expires, you can continue the service by paying $50/year or $130 for lifetime access.

Garmin, one of the closest competitor of TomTom – a popular GPS unit manufacturer, recently announced the StreetPilot 2820. This navigation device will suit either your car and motorcycle, and will include all the good features found on other Garmin’s GPS, and more. There are several new features, such as Bluetooth connectivity, hands-free calling interface, built-in MP3 player, an audio book player, and an extensive points-of-interest database. With its wireless technology, uses can easily retrieve phone numbers from his/her cell phone’s history log or call list. Of course users can also make and receive calls witht the help of additional Bluetooth-enabled headset or helmets. Furthermore, this navigation device can also provide the Real-time traffic report either through the FM RDS-TMC (Traffic Message Channel traffic receiver or XM NavTraffic (U.S. only) receiver which calculate routes and alerts one of accidents, road construction etc.

Garmin’s StreetPilot 2820 GPS comes preloaded with a huge database of points of interest (POIs) and the proximity alert feature makes one aware of the upcoming POI. A comprehensive MAP database has been provided by NAVTEQ and the 2D or 3D map perspective results in easy comprehending of the routes. The device itself is waterproof and equipped with a robust touch screen. According to the company, this GPS will be available around June for an estimated price of $1184.60.
