Onkyo presented its newest Sotec series laptop, the Sotec C103 netbook. Available in two colors (black and silver), this mini notebook sports an Intel Atom N270 processor, a 1GB of main memory, an Intel 945GSE Express chipset, a 10.1-inch WSVGA LCD display, a 160GB of hard drive, and a 802.11b/g/n WiFI connectivity. It is equipped with a 4.4.Ah battery that lasts for up to 5 hours per full charge. Well, nothing special here. In a matter of fact, the C103 is the same as Onkyo’s Sotec C101 model, except that it comes with a different flavours.

Anyway, I’ve read some computer magazine last week, and it said that the days of less-than-10-inch netbook are already over. Even Asus, the manufacturer of the first and the most famous Eee PC netbook, has mentioned that they will only offer 10-inch netbook from now on. I really agree with this, since I own two netbooks, one with 7-inch display and other with 10-inch screen, and I prefer to use the latter.

Japan-based computer manufacturer Onkyo has just released its latest all-in-one multimedia desktop PC, the Sotec E702A9. This kind of machine is perfect for those who want to have a powerful desktop PC but only has a small area of empty space on their work room. Of course, it can also be used for multimedia PC on everyone’s living room. I actually want to have one of these too.

On the specs department, E702A9 all-in-one PC is powered by a 2.8Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 processor, a 2GB of main memory, a 500GB of hard drive, and an nVidia GeForce 9300 graphics engine. It is also equipped with a 21.5-inch Full HD LCD monitor (16:9 aspect ratio, 1920 x 1080 resolution), Blu-Ray burner, built-in 2 x 8W speakers, a generous 8 x USB 2.0 ports, eSATA, HDMI, WiFI a/b/g connectivity, S/PDIF, media card reader, and an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam. Customers would receive a handy remote control as well, so they can control its multimedia player without leaving their chair…

Sotec to release its new slim desktop PC, PC Station DS7010. Two specs are available for you to choose. On the lower end, for a €370 (about $582), you’ll get a 2GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 processor, a 1GB of main memory, an nVidia GeForce 7100 graphics engine, a 160GB of hard drive, and a DVD SuperMulti burner. Those who have an extra budget can purchase the hi-end version, which include a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 processor, a 2GB of RAM, a 320GB of HDD. All for €533 (about $839).

Sotec PC Station DS7010 Desktop PC also features a HDMI interface, a built-in digital TV tuner, and a thin body at just 78mm thick.

I love this one! Looks exclusive and elegant. Released in partnership with Sotec, this mini PC from Onkyo is called “APX-2″. As a HD audio PC, you can expect APX-2 to deliver a high-quality sound to your ear. It is powered by a built-in digital audio amplifier — which is the same amp on Okyo PCI-200 audio card — along with Vista-certified volume mixer function and pre-installed Pure Direct Audio Path (PDAP) that enhanced HD audio quality in Vista environment. And to ensure that the busy hard drive won’t give you too much unwanted noise, Onkyo attached the HDD on a Super Floating HDD Unit, guarantee the PC would work as silent as possible.

Regarding hardware, Onkyo APX-2 HD Audio PC boasts an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.66GHz) processor, a 1GB of main memory, and a 500GB of hard drive.

Along with WH5515P laptop, Sotec, a Japan-based manufacturer, also unveiled its new desktop PC, the “Station BJ9715PC/22WD”. Priced at 174,800 Yen (about 1,100€), it sports a 22-inch LCD monitor, an Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 (2.2GHz) processor, a 2GB of main memory (expandable up to 4GB), a 500GB of hard drive, an Nvidia GeForce 7100 chipset, and a SuperMulti DVD burner. Regarding OS, this computer is pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium, as well as Microsoft Office Personal 2007 and PowerPoint 2007 apps.

New laptops powered by Intel’s brand new 45nm processor, a.k.a Penryn, keep emerging day by day. Here goes another one.. from Sotec of Japan and it’s called WH5515P. This 15.4-inch (1280×800) machine features an Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 (2.10GHz) processor, a 120GB of hard drive, a DVD SuperMulti burner, and 4 x USB 2.0 ports. Moreover, it is equipped with ExpressCard/64, 802.11a/b/g WiFI, Ehternet, and mini D-Sub15 input. Not bad. The bad news, its battery only lasts for 1.5 hours. WTH?!

SOTEC has just updated its product portfolio with the new LB22JW-02 LCD Monitor. This 22-inch display offers a resolution of 1680 x 1050 (WSXGA+), a contrast ratio of 1000:1, a brightness of 300cd/m2, and a response time of 5ms. It is also equipped with 2W speaker on each side along with a HDMI port (1.1) which will make both PS3 and XBox 360 Elite owners happy.

SOTEC LB22JW-02 is currently retailed in Japan with a price tag of €305 or about $410.

Mark this date, April 28th, on your calendar because, according to SOTEC’s schedule, the company will release 6 new WinBook WH series laptops at that time. One of them is WinBook WH3313. This 15.4-inch (1280×800) notebook is powered by a Celeron M430 processor, a VIA VN896 chipset with integrated graphics engine, a 512MB of main memory (upgradeable up to 2GB), and an 80GB of hard drive. It’ll be pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home Basic Edition operating system and can be purchased for just 89,900 Yen or about $760 (€560).

Other configuration is the WH3513P model. For 104,800 Yen (€660/$900), you’lll get a powerful machine with 1GB of RAM, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, ExpressCard slot, Windows Vista Home Premium OS, and various connectivity options, including 802.11a/b/g WiFI and Ethernet LAN. As for the battery, it can stand for up to 1.5 hours before recharge. However, if you need to work on your office document or presentation, you’d better check out the WinBook WH3513PC laptop. The specs is similar to WH3513P, except you’d get a pre-installed Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 and Office Personal 2007 productivity software package. This one will cost you 134.800 yen (850 Euros/1150 USD).

Finally, all of these six notebooks measure 358 x 263 x 36mm and weight 2.6kg.

Told you, there’d be a lot of affordable computers during this holiday season. The PC Station BJ Desktop Computer from Sotec, for example, is currently being offered at just 397 EUR. As a BTO product, you are free to choose and build your own configurations. The base config though, will feature an Intel Celeron D 326 (2.53GHz) processor, a 512MB of RAM, an integrated Intel graphics engine, a 160GB of hard drive, and a dual-layer DVD burner. No monitor included, but you can purchase the optional 19-inch LCD display if you want, of course, with an extra money from your pocket.
