Since I found KBCafe/Tags tool, I usually spend my time there to find a good topic to blogged. To refresh your memory, KBCafe/Tags is a tags-based search engine which will search for del.icio.us, Flickr, and Technorati based on the tags you submitted. Now I found another good tool, Spiderous.

Spiderous (spid.ero.us) is not a search engine. It’s much like an aggregator which take feed from several popular social bookmarking, including: del.icio.us, furl, spurl, simpy, linkroll, and openbm. Just go to Spiderous, and you can see the latest entry and the most popular entry in those social bookmarking.

Using Spiderous will greatly help those who like to spend his time to see other people bookmarks.

Simpy Say No to Bookmarker Wordpress Plugin

After lot of complained from Simpy users about Bookmarker, the Wordpress plugin which is able to automatically submit our new post to Simpy and del.icio.us, Simpy owner finally decided to disallowed Bookmarker to be used for Simpy.

A few people expressed concerns about how Bookmarker, a WordPress plugin, will be used. I contacted Aleksey, its author, and explained the situation. He agreed and decided to terminate Bookmarker.

On Bookmarker page, the author, Aleksey, has also updated the page:

The development, support and distribution of Bookmarker plug-in has been stopped because of tendency to misuse it. The plug-in was originally developed to help people promote their important articles, but it quickly started to result in flooding the bookmarking services with lots of spam. This is the reason why Bookmarker life has been terminated.

I found out about this after the owner of Simpy emailed me yesterday and ask me to stop using Bookmarker for Simpy.

Too bad. This is a good plugin afterall.

Revealicious – A Graphical Interface for Del.Icio.Us

del.icio.us is one of the most popular social bookmarking service. Social bookmarking, according to Wikipedia, is an online service genre that allows users to save and categorize (see folksonomy) a personal collection of bookmarks. Distinct in that others may see the bookmarks that have been saved by others and add them to their own collection, as well as to subscribe to the lists of others.

Revealicious is a wonderful tool that will change they way you’re using del.icio.us. It is a set of graphic visualisations for your del.icio.us account that allow you to browse, search and select tags, as well as viewing posts matching them. Revealicious using Flash to give interactive interface to user.

There are three different Revealicious interface you can try:

SpaceNav, which allows you to explore the structure of your tags in a rather recreative manner.
TagsCloud, which is an interactive and enhanced version of the tagscloud available in del.icio.us
Grouper, which is an experimental interface for grouping and working with tags.

del.icio.us Adds Recommendations

A new feature from del.icio.us that looks promising and really useful. It’s called: recommendations.

We’ve released the new recommendation engine. If you have more than ten urls saved in a tag, you will be offered several urls as well as other people’s tags that the system thinks you will be interested in. The URL pages also now offer the chance to see other related URLs.

It means, the more you bookmarked with the same tag, the more you’ll get your bookmarks shown to other people. Combine with the use of auto-tag plugin for Wordpress, as recommended by Puji, your chance of getting more traffic to your site will greatly increased )
