Sony Japan has something fresh for your weekend, the Mouse Phone (model: VN-CX1A). It’s a combination between a computer’s mouse (compatible with Windows only) and a Skype handset. To use it for communication purpose, all you have to do is pick up the mouse and flip it open. Along with its VOIP phone capability, VX-CX1A can also be used as a speaker phone. Wonderful innovation, Sony.

Sony VX-CX1A Mouse Phone is currently available in Japan, via Sony Style website, for 7,980 Yen (about $65). Three different flavours are available: black, silver, and blue.

As I mentioned before, the Consumer Electronics Show event is not just a place to see a cool product, but also a strange one. Well, check out this Lightsaber-shaped USB Skype Phone from Nikko Japan if you don’t believe me. Yes guys, it’s a USB Skype Phone in a form of THAT famous lightsaber from Star Wars movie. It comes with a cool stand with “Star Wars” text written with a blue LED lights, along with buttons that match the look of the sword. And you know what, when connected to PC, it’ll play the original Lightsaber’s “zipped” sound from the movie. Personally, I can only think this device worth as a “priceless” collection for the big Star Wars fans…

GreenHouse presented a Mac-compatible Skype phone called i-Sky. Simply plug it onto your PoweBook or iMac’s USB port and you’re ready to communicate with your Skype’s friends anywhere anytime. With i-Sky, you can also make or receive Skype’s phone call without using the keyboard. Note that the phone works with PC as well.

As previously mentioned here, the latest dual core laptop from Dell will have Skype pre-installed on the system. I’m not going to talk about the laptop again, since the detailed review is already out. But instead, let’s check more detail about the Skype built onto the M1210 laptop.

The pre-loaded Skype software inside the XPS-M1210 laptop is not a coincidence. It’s actually a part of the new agreement from Dell and Skype which every now and then, all new Dell’s computers will have a complete mobile communication features, including Skype, inside. Along with the software, other features will be included, such as noise-isolation earbuds, webcam, and mobile broadband capability.

Skype itself is one of the most internet voice and video phone software (VoIP). Back in September, eBay bought it for a $2.6B worth of deal. Recently, Tellme Networks announced that they have several new consumer voice applications ready for Skype. Consumers can reach these services by IP transport to reach the VoiceXML browser.

The same as its predecessor, imFone HS also uses USB connection. It comes with an integrated software, the imFone Manager. This software lets you use Bluetooth headset in three modes: Audio mode, Skype (Phone) mode, and Presentation mode.

In “audio mode”, it works like a general headset. In “SKYPE (phone) mode”, you can use Bluetooth headset exclusively for internet phone while other sound like MP3P except internet phone is delivered through the existing audio devices like a pc speaker. While in “Presentation mode”, imFone HS enables you to use the Bluetooth headset as a remote controller when you make a presentation. Users can navigate slides by pressing the volume up/down button of the headset.

According to the company, they will launch another new product in December with which you can use internet phone by just plugging a flash memory (128M) which incorporates internet phone programs like SKYPE/imTEL. That’s great. I’ll post it here once I get the detail of that new product.
