While Toshiba isn’t on my list of favourite notebook manufacturer, I must admit that this Dynabook Qosmio WXW series laptop looks really gorgeous — cool red-colored hood with wonderful body design. Obviously targetted hardcore gamers market, the laptop has just been upgraded with higher specs. Including a 2.66Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 processor, a 1GB nVidia GeForce 9800M GTS graphics engine, a DVD SuperMulti drive, and either a 128GB SSD or a 160GB of hard drive storage. A standard configuration with 2GB of main memory would cost you around 280,000 Yen or about €2,435 (around US $3,129). I just wish Toshiba would make more laptop like this one…

Toshiba has just updated its Qosmio portfolio with three new models: the Qosmio G55, Qosmio X305, and Qosmio F55 laptops. Let’s check them out one by one.

The Qosmio G55 is the world’s first notebook that incorporates a parallel media co-processor based on the revolutionary Cell Processor technology. It comes with an 18.4-inch TruBrite widescreen display along with an up to 500GB of hard disk.

Moving to the Qosmio X305, this 17.1-inch TruBrite Widescreen laptop sports a 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1GB nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX graphics engine, and up to 400GB of HDD (the default specs is 160GB of HDD + 64GB of SSD).

Finally, Toshiba Qosmio F55 boasts a 15.4-inch TruBrite Widescreen LCD, an nVidia GeForce 9700 GTS graphics card, and a built-in GPS functionalities. Moreover, all of these three notebook PCs come with a HDMI interface, eSATA port, and Harman Kardon speakers with built-in subwoofers.

Toshiba Japan presented its new summer lineup yesterday — the Qosmio F40, Dynabook AX, Dynabook TX, and Dynabook CX laptops. Let’s start with the Qosmio F40 (F40/84FBL) first. This 15.4-inch notebook is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 processor, an Intel GN965 Express chipset, a 2GB of main memory, a 160GB of hard drive. It comes with SuperMulti DVD burner (yeah, no more HD-DVD) and HDMI output. The price is set at €1,352 or about $2,135.

Available in three flavours — black, white, and pink — the Dynabook AX laptop features a 15.4-inch WXGA display, an Intel Celeron 550 CPU, a 2GB of RAM, a 160GB of HDD, a DVD SuperMulti, and HDMI out. All for €922 ($1,456).

Next is the Dynabook TX. This $1,737 (€1,100) notebook comes with a 2.1Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 processor, a 2GB of RAM, a 200GB of storage, a 15.4-inch WXGA display, a DVD SuperMulti and a HDMI out.

Finally, the 13.3-inch Dynabook CX laptop sports an Intel Core 2 Duo T8100, an Intel GM965 Express chipset, a 2GB of main memory, a 160GB of hard drive, a DVD SuperMulti drive, and a HDMI out. This one is retailed for €1,230 or US $1,942.

Measures 440 x 299.4 x 38.1 ~ 45.3mm and weighs 4.8kg, this brand new Vista-loaded Qosmio G40 laptop will be available by the end of this month with a price tag of 430,000 Yen or about €2,700. Oh, btw, it has up to 3 hours of battery life.

Inside this Qosmio G40 97E laptop, there lies a 2.2GHz Intel Core Duo processor, a 2GB of main memory, and a 400GB of hard drive. It supposed to be your mobile media center PC, thus providing a complete entertainment system is a must. That’s why Toshiba, the company behind Qosmio, also includes a dual TV tuner and a display with wonderful 1920×1200 resolution on this big baby. Its body might not as sexy as other model on Qosmio range, but this laptop is as pricey as its brothers and sisters. $3,350 if the price you have to pay to get one. Yup, expensive, but at least you also get a HD-DVD burner, incase you need one.

Toshiba updates its notebook portfolio by releasing two new laptops, the Qosmio F45 and Satellite U305 series. The first model comes with a 15.4-inch display and sports a Harman Kardon stereo speakers with built-in subwoofer, AV control pads for instant multimedia control, and HD-DVD drive. Available in piano-key white glossy finish, it can be purchased for a nice $1,649. However, you can remove the high-definition media support for lower budget (between $1,299 to $1,349).

As for Satellite U305 laptop, it boasts a 13.3-inch display and available in both Santa Rosa and non-Santa Rosa platform. The price starts from $899 for the most basic configuration.

Another Santa Rosa notebook from Toshiba. Under its Qosmio series, this is tje 15.4-inch Qosmio F40W laptop. For not-so-cheap price of $2,134, you’ll receive a machine powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 (2GHz) processor, up to 4GB of main memory, and a 128MB nVidia GeForce 8400 GS graphics engine. There are also an integrated digital TV tuner and a dual-layer DVD burner under the hood.

It’s time for Toshiba to show off their new collection of Santa Rosa-based notebook PCs, the Qosmio G40 and F40 series. The former is a 17-inch laptop boasting either an Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 (1.8GHz) or T7300 (2.0GHz) processor, either a 160GB of 320GB of hard drive, a 1GB of RAM, an analog/digital TV tuner, and a LCD monitor with a resolution of 1900 x 1200 (WUXGA). This screen is supported by a 256MB (DDR3) nVidia GeForce 8600GT graphics engine. It weighs 5kg and measures 440 x 303 x 38mm.

As for the Qosmio F40 laptop, measures 379 x 279 x 38mm and weighs 4kg, it features an Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 (1.8GHz) laptop, a 1GB of RAM, a 120GB of hard drive, and a 15.4-inch LCD display with WXGA resolution. Like its sibling, the machine comes with a digital/analog TV tuner as well.

Remember Toshiba’s Qosmio G35-AV650 laptop? It’s one of the very first portable computer to come with a HD-DVD player. This year, at the CES 2007, the company unveils the prototype of G35-AV660, the successor of the AV650 notebook, featuring built-in HD-DVD burner. This world’s first laptop with the ability to burn HD-DVD media also boasts an integrated HD TV tuner and Windows Vista OS. Detail about the specs, price, and availability will be revealed later in the first quarter of 2007, promised Toshiba.

“With the addition of the HD DVD-R optical drive, the Qosmio notebook provides users with a state-of-the-art multimedia notebook that can burn up to 30 GB of data, including video or entire photo and music libraries, onto a single HD DVD recordable disc. The HD DVD-R optical drive also plays HD DVD movies at a resolution that is six times sharper than the DVD format“, the company said.
