Intel is going to update its Santa Rosa notebook PC platform with the new “Santa Rosa Refresh”. As announced during Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2007 event in San Fransisco, this platform adopts “Penryn”, a mobile processor with 45nm technology and enhanced graphics capabilities. According to the press release, the usage of Penryn will highly improve both perfomance and battery life features, as well as graphics. Many advanced graphics technologies will be unlocked and developers can take advantage of it via DirectX 10 engine. Moreover, Santa Rosa Refresh will feature Intel Mobile 965 Express chipset family, Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N network connection, Intel 82566MM and 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection, and optional Intel Turbo memory.

Along with Santa Rosa Refresh, Intel also showcased another new notebook platform which is called “Montevina”. Scheduled to be released in the middle of 2008, this one sports Penryn Mobile Processor, integrated HD-DVD/Blu-Ray support, optional WiMAX wireless technology, enhanced data manageability, and improved security features. According to Intel, Montevina is about 40% smaller in components than those in current Santa Rosa platform, thus smaller and lighter Centrino-based laptops can be expected once Montevina released.

Nintendo fans now have a good reason to buy Apple iPhone. According to the recent news, Nintendo has started working with Apple and licensed a limited amount of exclusive games for iPhone. No further information on the list of the games, but Super Mario will surely make his way on the new device. Each of those games will be available once iPhone released for $29 at iTunes Store.

Currently, there’s a major hangup in development of the games due to the lack of buttons on the iPhone. It’d be interesting though to find out how we can move Mario around without traditional D-pad.

Have you watched Death Note? It’s a wonderful anime TV series based on the famous Death Note manga by Tsugumi Ohba. The story is about a genius high school student name named Light Yagami which accidentally found a notebook. The notebook is happened to be owned by the Death God and it’s called the Death Note. Anyone who own this book can get rid of anyone he/she wants simply by writing his/her name on the notebook. Yagami then decides to kill all the bad guys in the world to create a new world with the help of the supernatural notebook.

Well, apparently, a company in South Korea is currently selling a red-colored notebook under the title “Red Notebook”. Eventhough it doesn’t claim any connection to Death Note, one won’t miss the connection amongs them since, like the notebook in Death Note, if yo write a name in the Red Notebook along with the description of horrible incident that will befall them, it’ll tell you that it’ll definitely happen to them. Rather scary, huh?

The “Red Notebook” is pretty popular amongs South Korean schoolchildren at the moment. Not sure about the price though.

Intel is going to release Santa Rosa, the upcoming Centrino laptop platform, in May. First introduced to public during Intel Developer Forum back in September last year, this next-gen platform is designed to be usd with Intel Core 2 Duo (codenamed Merom) processors and will have up to 700Mhz FSB (front-side bus) which can be dynamically reduced and raised, depend on the workload. Also known as Centrino Pro, Santa Rosa will probably come with an integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3000, forthcoming 802.11n Wireless standard, along with “Robson” flash memory-based hard drive cache. Unfortunately, the formerly claimed built-in 3G wireless solution from Nokia has been canceled.

Along with the new Santa Rosa notebook platform, Intel will also unveil new Core 2 Duo Mobile processors in May, with support for Centrino Pro’s 800MHz FSB.

In less than a month after Microsoft released Vista OS, the big company already has an idea for the next-generation of Vista. Planned to be released in 2009, the new OS is called Microsoft Vienna. According to Ben Fathi, Corporate Vice President of Development with Microsoft Windows Core Operating System Division, “a two and a half year period was good enough for a full refresh as compared to the traditional five year stint”.

Well, that’s all the buzz for now. Hopefully there’ll be more info about Vienna later.

Axiotron, together with Other World Computing (OWC), is going to unveil ModBook at MacWorld Conference & Expo 2007 event in San Fransisco on January 9th. ModBook is claimed as the first and only Mac tablet computer solution by the companies. Like a tablet PC, users will be able to use the touchscreen directly for writing and drawing using the provided stylus pen. It will be equipped with built-in iSight Camera and DVD/CD combo drive as well. Furthermore, the companies also mentioned that ModBook will be the first Mac solution with an optional built-in Global Positioning System (GPS). Sounds pretty cool.

More detail later after the official announcement.
