MIT has finally unveiled its working prototype of $100 laptop. This very cheap laptop is developed as a part of the One Laptop Per Child, a program that aims to increase the literacy rate among 3rd world and developing countries, especially for their children. And as you can see from the image, the notebook has a colorful chassis that would surely attract kids to use it.

Technically, to reduce the cost of the laptop, the usage of projection screen has been replaced by a LCD that can switch between a low-resolution color mode and a high-resolution monochrome mode. However, currently the notebook (means the prototype) is still cost $130. MIT said that they will try to reduce the cost down to $80 and then begin production in the first quarter of 2007.
