The next generation of Samsung’s Blackjack has arrived: Samsung SCH-M840 a.k.a Ultra Messaging 2 a.k.a BlackJack III. Soon available in the middle of this month in Korea market through SK Telecom, this Windows Mobile 6 Professional-based smartphone offers a 2.6-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 320×320, a Blackberry-style keypad, finger mouse, an integrated 2 megapixel camera module with video telephony, Bluetooth connectivity, media player (MP3, MPEG4, WMV), and a microSD card slot.

Will be retailed for 600,000 Won (around $600), the phone also provides the ability to check email and browser the web via 3G, HSDPA, or 802.11b/g WiFI, as well as support for various Microsoft Office documents.

Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 Cell Phone

Samsung recently unveiled three new Ultra cell phones at the ITU Telecom World 2006 event in Hongkong – the Ultra Messaging i600, Ultra Video F500, and Ultra Music F300. Boasts as the first 3G smartphone with support for HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), the slim — just 11.8mm thick — i600 handset offers a QWERTY keyboard layout for convenient message typing. Runs on Windows Mobile 5.0, it is pre-loaded with several handy apps, such as Pocket Office, Windows Media Player 10, image / PDS viewer, Push Email technology, podcasting, and RSS reader. Of course, being a 3G phone, it is equipped with two cameras, one with 1.3 megapixel at the back, and other with VGA resolution at the front side for video conferencing purpose.

Weighs at just 99 grams, Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 cell phone also comes with a 2.3-inch colors LCD display, Bluetooth, WiFI connectivity, and speakerphone. It will be released in Asia and Europe in the first quarter of 2007, but no words on pricing yet.

Cuckoo IP – Voice Messaging Cuckoo Clock

All I can say is, this is a creative product. It combined the old-style Cuckoo Clock with the high-tech voice messaging system. Dubbed “Cuckoo IP”, it works like an answering machine. It can be dialled, either from mobile or landline phone, and one can leave a voice message there. After that, they can select what time they want that message to be delivered. Now here comes the cool part. At that arranged time, the cuckoo will emerge from the clock and broadcast your message. Pretty cute isn’t it?

Technically, each cuckoo clock is assigned with a specific number / ID. The device inside the clock then uses networking protocols to communicate with a server and every minute, it’d check whether there’s any message for that ID and current time-slot. If found, it’d request the sound file and broadcast it.
