Here’s how you can create playlists for your media files in iPhone:

The key for getting the most out of iTunes and music on your iPhone is to understand and utilize playlists. Playlists are created in iTunes on your Mac or PC, and accessible from the iPod application on your iPhone. Playlists give you flexible options for creating lists of songs that suite your mood, so you could create playlist to listen to while driving, or another for when you need to relax.

In iTunes on your Mac or PC, click the + button near the bottom left of the screen. This adds a new playlist. Give your playlist a name then click on Music in the Library list. Now drag songs from your music selection to your new playlist.

You can also create dynamically updated Smart Playlists by choosing New Smart Playlist from the File menu. So, for example, you could create a Smart Playlist of all the songs added in the last week, so they’re always easy to find.

To add more rules to your Smart Playlist criteria click the + button. You can add as many rules as you like. There’s a huge range of criteria to choose from. If you rate your songs, why not use the rating as a criteria to choose only your favourite songs?

If iTunes is set to automatically sync all songs and playlists with your iPhone, then all you need to do is connect your iPhone and sync. Alternatively, you can set iTunes to sync only selected playlists in the Music tab of your iPhone’s synching options.

Once your iPhone appears in the Devices list, click on it, then click on the Info tab in the main window. Choose how to sync your info. If you don’t use MobileMe, you’re done for now.

MobileMe requires more setting up. Armed with your username and password, sync your PC or Mac data with MobileMe. On a Mac, go to System Preferences > MobileMe (or .Mac on older systems). If you’re using PC, you’ll find MobileMe preferences in Control Panel.

Once your account is all set up, it’s easy to sync data between your iPhone and your MobileMe account on your computer. On your iPhone, tap on Settings from the Home screen. Make sure the Fetch New Data option is set to Push. Then in Mail, Contacts, Calendars tap on Add Account and add your MobileMe account details if you haven’t done so already.

Click on your MobileMe account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars then ensure all the sliders are set to On. Be aware that this will overwrite the contact and calendars already on your iPhone, so make sure you followed step number two.

Axiotron, together with Other World Computing (OWC), is going to unveil ModBook at MacWorld Conference & Expo 2007 event in San Fransisco on January 9th. ModBook is claimed as the first and only Mac tablet computer solution by the companies. Like a tablet PC, users will be able to use the touchscreen directly for writing and drawing using the provided stylus pen. It will be equipped with built-in iSight Camera and DVD/CD combo drive as well. Furthermore, the companies also mentioned that ModBook will be the first Mac solution with an optional built-in Global Positioning System (GPS). Sounds pretty cool.

As mentioned earlier, Apple has just announced the availability of Merom-based MacBook Pro laptops. Two models are available, the 15-inch and 17-inch notebook. I’ve posted about the 15-inch MacBook Pro, and so it’s time for the 17-inch one.

The main differences between the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro laptop are just the price, weighs, and battery life. Pre-loaded with Mac OS X Tiger v10.4 OS, it weighs 6.8 pounds, costs $2800, and can be used for up to 5.5 hours on single battery charge. As for the main engine, it duped the 15-inch’s T7600 configuration. That’s include a Core 2 Duo T7600 (2.33GHz) processor, a 2GB of DDR2 RAM (expandable up to 3GB), a 160GB of 5,400rpm SATA HDD (up to 200GB supported), dual-layer DVD burner, and 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics engine with dual-link DVI and VGA output support.

Furthermore, this notebook is also equipped with an integrated iSight camera, three USB ports, one FireWire 400 port at up to 400 Mbps, one FireWire 800 port at up to 800 Mbps, an ExpressCard/34 slot, and a variety of built-in connectivity options (54-Mbps AirPort Extreme wireless, Bluetooth, and Gigabit Ethernet LAN).
