Lego Lamp

Like LEGO? While people will probably stare at you if you play with that little cube at home and build your dream castle, they won’t if you do it with these unique Legos from Sasinan Suthayalai. Well, actually, they are not really a lego. It’s a lighting cube in a shape of Lego. Furthermore, they can be arranged and connected with each other since each cube is made from hight magnetic magnets. This will let the electricity to pass by from one cube to another. For the lighting source itself, each cube has one LED lamp inside which will turn on when the cube is connected to electricity.

In this very creative lighting product, the power is rely on one base cube. This cube is the one who connect to the home electricity. Once plugged in, this cube, and other cubes connected to it will be lighted on as well. And so does your dream castle, if you built one with these lego cubes.

Hitachi Cordless Lantern UB 12DL

At the recent Design Korea 2005 event, Hitachi presents the UB 12DL Cordless Lantern. It’s a fluorescent lamp with a wide beam path and small LED light with an automatic switching function to save battery power. Its hooked rotary handle can be fixed at eight angles for convenient holding or hanging. It also comes with a detachable stand. This lantern would be quite handy for outdoor activities, but the design makes it fit into indoor interior / lighting as well.

StarSight – Solar-Powered Cell Phone Charger Street Lamps

As reported by FT, StarSight has came up with their StarLight Lighting System project that combines solar power, anti-theft, multi-battery technology charging, and a state-of-the-art lighting. Together with their Communication System, it also provides wireless monitoring and control. This high-tech street lamp will appear first in Africa. They are essentially a network of pylons, each equipped with a solar panel, and linked by an antennae which use wireless internet protocol.

A StarSight pylon can use a WiFi or WiMax (long-range wireless internet) and be connected to almost any kind of peripheral. It could even provide a power outlet at its base, to power a conventional phone or one using Voice-over-IP. This system is not limited to a street light device, but can be implemented to a Tsunami warning siren system, a CCTV camera or a pollution monitor.

The StarSight StarLight Lighting System contains:

Lamp – StarSight Lamp Model 1021 is the “Light” of the Street Light.
Battery Subsystem – StarSight Battery Subsystem provides power when the sun has not been available for an extended period of time.
Solar Array Subsystem – This is the main power source.
StarSight Controller – This unit integrates charge controller, radio, cpu, and anti-theft into one unit.

The StarSight Communications System contains:

StarSight Radio Access Point – (SSAP) This is the StarSight Access Point – It connects the StreetLight System to the backhaul system.
StarSight WIFI Service Controller/Backhaul – This provides the backhaul connection to StarReach Backhaul Connection on one side, and WiFi Subscribers on the other side.
SSBat – StarSight Battery Subsystem StarSight Solar Subsystem.

On-Edge Rubber Lamp

Okay, now I’m a fans of Silvia Grimaldi’s designs. After the previously posted Unstable Stool, here’s her other unique and suprising product design, the On-Edge Lamp. Why “on-edge”? Because the lamp is turn on by sliding it off the edge of the table slightly. When it is fully on table, it is off. That’s cool! The more surprising is, eventhough it looks like a tradional glass table lamp, the On-Edge Lamp is actually made of rubber. So you don’t have to worry when you accidentally drop it, ’cause it would bounce instead of break.

For prank idea, you could pretend throwing this rubber lamp off the wall when there are many people around. I’m sure they all would pretty shocked

Feathered Corset Light

Light up the romantic night with this sexy corset lamp, Feathered Corset Light. Yeah, this night light will surely add warm ambiance and some more romances on your bedroom. For me, I’d still prefer to have my girlfriend in corset. But since this light is sexy enough (and cheap too, only $25), I think I don’t mind buying it. Then I could try to fantasize her body while touching this light… Uh, maybe not.

SaVi Pool Light – a LED Pool Lights

Super Vision International, a company who specialized on making fiber optic and LED lightning systems, is going to introduce the world’s brightest LED pool light at the National Spa & Pool Institute show this week. Named SaVi Pool Light, it uses ceramic chip-on-board high-density LED array technology from Lamina Ceramics, Inc. It fits into a standard spa niche, for lower installation cost and better aesthetics of the pool. The product itself is part of a new line of prodcuts that they call Symphony of Light which can be used to create dramatic lighting effects in your pool or spa.

I guess I’ve just found another romantic place to spend the night with my girlfriend.

SolLight LightShip – Solar-Powered Portable Light

Hey, this is what I’ve been looking for. A portable solar-powered light for both indoor and outdoor from SolLight, the LightShip. I’ve seen a similar portable lamp like this before, but it uses batteries. While I’m too lazy to replace the batteries when they’re low on power, I prefer the solar one.

As I said above, the LightShip can be used both indoor and outdoor. You can place it on your bedroom and make it as your bedside light. Or you can bring it on your camping, and use it as your nightlight.

This solar-powered device only need 3 ~ 4 hours to fully charged, depend on the sun. When fully recharged, it will provide light for up to eight hours. It’s weatherproof and lightweight (only 80z weighs). It also contains three suction cups which will securely attach it to any smooth surface

Like the LightCap, another solar-powered device from the same company, the LightShip also has two LED light options: yellow and white. The white one will provide a brighter light, while the yellow one for a softer light (with lower power usage).

Climbing Light

I like this, a Climbing Light. It’s like a normal wall light, but designed to look like a little man climbing up the wall. Really cool! Measures 180 x 135 x 65 mm, the light’s body is made of polished zinc plated wire, complete with a translucent lamp holder and two metre cable. It will also grab hold of any single screw, so it’s quite easy to set up. It comes supplied with a chrome topped 40 watt bulb which create a decorative downlight.

Climbing Light is retail at Â£25.
