The X-note Express LW20-EV is the world’s first laptop with integrated EV-DO receiver. Manufactured as a joint development between LG, Intel, and KTF, the EV-DO technology embedded on the notebook will boast the notebook’s connectivity anywhere, even in mountains, undergrounds, and on the move. It has a maximum speed of 2.4 Mbps and much more advanced than GPRS and EDGE.

The LW20-EV blackberry-colored notebook comes with a built-in dual antenna which allows switching between WiFi and EV-DO. That’s good since WiFi coverage is wider than EV-DO. An optional DMB receiver can also be attached.

LG X-note Express LW20-EV specifications:

Intel Pentium M 1.86 Ghz processor

1024MB (1GB) of RAM

60GB hard disk drive

DVD super drive (Hot swappable)

12.1″ WXGA LCD display

Evolution Data Only, Evolution Data Optimized, often abbreviated as EVDO, EV-DO, EvDO, 1xEV-DO or 1xEvDO is a wireless radio broadband data protocol being adopted by many CDMA mobile phone providers in Japan, Korea, the United States and Canada, as part of the CDMA2000 standard. 1xEVDO is pronounced “One Ex-E:- Vee-Dee-Oh.” It is commonly referred in the industry as DO (Dee-Oh). In comparison to the 1xRTT networks being used by these carriers currently or the GPRS and EDGE networks being employed by their GSM competitors, EV-DO is significantly faster, allowing clients download speeds of up to 2.4 Mbit/s.

Wi-Fi (or Wi-fi, WiFi, Wifi, wifi), short for “Wireless Fidelity”, is a set of standards for wireless local area networks (WLAN) currently based on the IEEE 802.11 specifications. New standards beyond the 802.11 specifications, such as 802.16 are currently in the works, they offer many enhancements, anywhere from longer range to greater transfer speeds.
