Available through KDDI Japan netowrk, AU’s latest cell phone G9 looks so beatiful. At just 1.8mm thick, the dual GSM – CDMA combo handset features a large 3-inch display with WVGA resolution, an integrated 3.1 megapixel camera module with AutoFocus, Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS navigation module, 1Seg TV tuner, and 700MB of onboard storage. Pretty nice, isn’t it? From the screenshot above, the sliding-mechanism G9 also has an interesting user interface. If interested, the phone is available in light green and light pink / purple color.

Pantech Korea and AU together present an interesting Pantech-AU NS02 clamshell handset which looks like James Bond’s briefcase. Available in Japan market through KDDI, the phone features a standard CDMA 1X WIN network, a 2.7-inch QVGA display, an integrated 2 megapixel camera module, a microSD media card slot (up to 2GB supported), and a 220 minutes of talk time per full battery charge. Measures 51 x 102 x 19.4mm and weighs 134 grams, NS02 cell phone is available in three different flavours — black, ivory, and green.

Nike, in co-op with Japan’s KDDi Communications, launched an exclusive line of customizable shoes which match KDDi’s Infobar 2 cell phone. Priced at 16,800 Yen (about $155) each with only 222 pairs manufactured, the shoes will be available in four different colors, the same as the number of the phone’s color variants — green, red, silver, and white. Moreover, each shoe can be further customized using the Nike ID feature.

The Infobar 2 cell phone itself, created by Sanyo, features a 2.6-inch 240×400 display, integrated 1Seg TV tuner, and microSD card slot. It weighs 104 grams and has 138 x 47 x 15.5mm dimension.

Already satisfied with your 3G or HSDPA (3.5G) cell phone? Well, wait until you get your hand on WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access). This enhanced technology offers data access rate wayyyyy faster than HSDPA. The good news, you won’t have to wait very long until such WiMAX-ready handset exist, as KDDI Japan already developed one. Recently showcased during CEATEC 2007, the phone is called “AU” and it’s slated to be the first WiMAX-ready phone in the world. Or at least in Japan.

The fuel-cell mobile phone co-developed by Toshiba and KDDI is based on the au handset A5509T. The system used is a hybrid type, with power supplied by a compact fuel cell and fuel tank at the back of the handset, plus an internal lithium ion battery. It uses high-concentration methanol to achieve a battery capacity 2.5 times the conventional value with a single refill. This feature enables the handset to be used for a long time.

It was KDDI who come out with the idea. They’d like to give their mobile phone fans something to collect. The mobile phone models will be manufactured limitedly, around one thousand pieces, and only the most popular cell phones for the time being. Unfortunately, you can only buy the entire package at once.
