Great news! You can now download files from famous file sharing services, such as Rapidshare, Mediafire, 4Shared, and Symbianize; directly to your mobile device, thanks to a small Jave J2ME app called aED-DLoader. This midlet even supports download resume, just incase you run out of battery while downloading big files. Surely a must-installed program for any mobile users. Named “MN 2200 Navigation System”, it offers a navigation aids in a form of color maps, arrows and voice directions – thanks to the navigation software and a satellite-controlled GPS receiver. The users simply enter the route data with the keypad, and the rest is handled by the software, mobile phone, GPS receiver and the central server at VDO Dayton.

Once the server has calculated the desired route, it will be transmitted back from the central server to the mobile phone. The Java-based software on the phone will then display the trip direction.

The advantage of this one-time fee-based connection service is that you’ll have a mobile pathfinder. You can now safely throw away your road maps (into the Handsfree TrashCan maybe?), and replace it with MN2200 GPS service. It’s not just providing the requested location and direction, in addition, it also provides traffic jam and detours report, as well as an alternative routes.

The MN2200 offers a selection of seven languages and is available from mobile communication providers and from VDO Dayton’s online shop.

Bagian kedua dari tutorial singkat mengenai pembuatan aplikasi mobile dengan menggunakan J2ME. Bagian sebelumnya dapat dibaca di sini. Pada bagian terakhir ini, akan ditunjukkan pembuatan database yg diperlukan serta script² server side yang dibutuhkan dng bahasa ASP.

Knp tidak menggunakan JSP? Krn tutorial ini lebih ditekankan kpd pemula, maka sengaja dipilih bhs ASP yg lebih ‘merakyat’ dibandingkan bhs JSP. Sehingga proses belajar bisa lebih terfokus pada pemrograman client-side dng J2ME. Suatu saat nanti, mungkin akan Anda tutorial JSP juga

Pembuatan Database

Dlm tutorial ini, database kita buat dng format MDB dng menggunakan MS Access. Ada 3 tabel yg perlu kita buat, yaitu tabel film, tabel jadwal, dan tabel pesan. Siapkan dulu sebuah database baru, beri nama database.mdb kemudian tambahkan tabel2nya sesuai ketentuan di bawah ini:

1. Tabel Film, digunakan untuk menyimpan informasi ttg film. Field-fieldnya:
   • id, tipe Autonumber
   • title, tipe Text, ukuran 50
   • actor, tipe Text, ukuran 50
   • genre, tipe Text, ukuran 50
   • sinopsis, tipe Memo
2. Tabel Jadwal, digunakan untuk menyimpan informasi ttg jadwal pemutaran film, termasuk kapasitas studio dan biaya HTM. Field-fieldnya:

   • movie, tipe Number
   • midnight, tipe Yes/No, format True/False

Server-Side Programming

Ada 5 file ASP yg harus disiapkan, yaitu batal.asp, jadwal.asp, lihat.asp, movie.asp, dan pesan.asp. Fungsi masing₂ tentunya sudah dapat dikira₂ sesuai namanya. Untuk source code-nya dapat dilihat pada halaman berikut.

Aplikasi ini terdiri dari 2 bagian, yaitu sisi klien dan sisi server. Sisi client, yang diberikan pada bagian I ini, dibuat dengan menggunakan Java 5.0 dan WTK 2.0, sedangkan bagian server, dibuat dengan menggunakan ASP. Aplikasi client nantinya akan di-deploy ke dalam ponsel dalam bentuk midlet, sedangkan aplikasi server diletakkan pada server internet.

Untuk memudahkan pemahaman, hanya ada 1 kelas java, yaitu class bioskop. Cara kerjanya sbb:

1. User menjalankan midlet dan menuju ke menu utama yg berisi pilihan untuk melihat informasi film, jadwal film, dan melakukan transaksi ticketing.
2. Jika menu info film dan jadwal film dipilih, aplikasi akan melakukan koneksi ke aplikasi server via internet dengan menggunakan metode koneksi StreamConnection. Metode ini dipilih krn pengimplementasiannya cukup sederhana dan mudah dipahami. Cara lain yg dapat digunakan adalah metode HTTPConnection. Pada saat koneksi berlangsung, server akan mengirimkan output berupa info/jadwal film yg diminta ke client. Selanjutnya client akan memproses output tsb dan menampilkan hasilnya ke layar ponsel.
3. Apabila menu transaksi yg dipilih, user akan melakukan pengisian sejumlah form. Stl itu, aplikasi client akan melakukan koneksi ke server untuk men-trigger proses update pada database yang terdapat di server internet. Status transaksi akan dikembalikan oleh server ke client dan ditampilkan ke layar ponsel.
