Here’s how you can create playlists for your media files in iPhone:

The key for getting the most out of iTunes and music on your iPhone is to understand and utilize playlists. Playlists are created in iTunes on your Mac or PC, and accessible from the iPod application on your iPhone. Playlists give you flexible options for creating lists of songs that suite your mood, so you could create playlist to listen to while driving, or another for when you need to relax.

In iTunes on your Mac or PC, click the + button near the bottom left of the screen. This adds a new playlist. Give your playlist a name then click on Music in the Library list. Now drag songs from your music selection to your new playlist.

You can also create dynamically updated Smart Playlists by choosing New Smart Playlist from the File menu. So, for example, you could create a Smart Playlist of all the songs added in the last week, so they’re always easy to find.

To add more rules to your Smart Playlist criteria click the + button. You can add as many rules as you like. There’s a huge range of criteria to choose from. If you rate your songs, why not use the rating as a criteria to choose only your favourite songs?

If iTunes is set to automatically sync all songs and playlists with your iPhone, then all you need to do is connect your iPhone and sync. Alternatively, you can set iTunes to sync only selected playlists in the Music tab of your iPhone’s synching options.

If you check your iPhone, you’ll find out that there’s an iPod app lies on the Home screen. Here goes the guide for using the iPod application:

Finding songs in the iPod app can be done in various ways, via Playlists, Artists, or Songs. Tap More to browse Albums, Audiobooks, Compilations, Composers, Genres, and Podcasts. Once you’ve found a song, simply tap its name to play it.

You’ll notice a Play/Pause button which is straightforward. Tap and hold the forward and back buttons to skim inside a song, while single tapping takes you to the next or previous song. The slider controls the volume, as do the volume button.

Tap the album cover to reveal some extra features when you’re playing a track. Tap rotate icon to repeat the selected track or song list, use the scrubber bar to skip to a particular point in a song, or you can shuffle through your songs with the button on the right. You can build a playlist of similar music by tapping the atom-like Genius button in the middle so long as you have enabled Genius in iTunes 8.

Cover Flow view in the iPod application is one of the coolest things about the iPhone. While a song is playing, simply turn your iPod on its side and you can browse through your albums via their artwork. To see the tracks on an album, just tap its cover.

If you follow his wonderful tutorial, you can turn your computer into a “music server” for your Sony PSP, thus you can access your music anywhere and anytime using Sony PSP WiFi feature. Unfortunately, the software he used for the tutorial, Dot-Tunes, is only available on Mac.

But now, Windows user can be happy. The waiting is over. The latest Dot-Tunes, v1.1j, now fully support Windows OS. So, no more jealous to Mac user.

To use Dot-Tunes as your music server is very easy. You can read the detail instruction here. For the brief instructions:

Run Dot-Tunes application

Choose the music (and recordings) that you want to share / served (”your iTunes tracks”)

Done! Now you can use Sony PSP or other portable device with internet / WiFi connection support to access your music server on your PC. You can view, download, and listen to the iTunes track directly from your portable device.

Not hard, isn’t it?

According to Dot-Pod, the author of Dot-Tunes, this software doesn’t use Windows built-in ‘web-sharing’ feature. Dot-Tunes has its own web server capability, specifically designed to serve the audio tracks from iTunes. From his first impression, it looks like this mobile phone is quite fun.

This is one serious party animal. It lights up all over when calls come in, its built-in speakers for ringtones or music playback are surprisingly good, and it has a cool sound-recognition feature that allows its lights to keep time with music or voices in its surroundings. None if this is useful in the least, but a heckuva lotta fun.

Apple Computer Inc. on Wednesday unveiled a cellphone that plays music like an iPod, aimed at extending its domination of the digital music market.

Finally, the waiting is over, the rumour is clear. As already predicted by many industry experts, Apple Computer Inc. announced the new generation of mobile phone, which has the ability to download and play music using iTunes software. It’s called ROKR.

The iTunes mobile phone is developed by Motorola Inc. Unlike the rumour that said it’d only hold about 25 songs, ROKR, Apple’s first foray into the mobile telephony market, can store up to 100 songs. It also has a color screen, built-in dual-stereo speakers, stereo headphones and even a camera.

When a call is received, music will automatically shut off. But users can still listen to music while text-messaging. The backdraw, users will not be able to load the phone with music files over cellular networks, however. They must transfer songs from their computers. That contrasts with popular over-the-air music purchases available in such countries as Japan.

Cingular Wireless, the no. 1 U.S mobile service, will be the exclusive U.S. carrier of the phone. Customers will have to pay $249.99 for a two-year service contract. The same as iPod Nano, the new iPod which replace the iPod Mini, the iTunes phone ROKR will be available in Cingular stores on Thursday.
