iToos, China-based manufacturer, presented T68HD, a compact 4.3-inch Portable Media Player featuring HD video playback (it plays 720p HD video at lower resolution). You can also send the video playback out to your LCD TV, thanks to its TV out port. The device itself supports various multimedia formats, including RM, RMVB, FLV, AVI, MPEG4 (video), MP3, WAV (audio), etc. Of course, photo files are supported as well. Other features include a 800 x 480 resolution and an 8GB of internal memory, but no WiFI connectivity unfortunately.

iToos T68HD PMP is retailed for just €66 or about $87 USD.

Princeton releases two new 23-inch LCD monitors under PTFBGF series. The first one, PTFBFG-23RW has a glossy LCD display, while the second one, PTFBGF-23W comes with a non-glossy screen. Retailed with almost the same price (less than €280), both monitors boast a full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, a brightness of 300cd/m2, built-in 2 x 1.5W speakers, a dynamic contrast ratio of 1000:1 ~ 10,000:1, HDMI, DVI, and D-Sub inputs. Sounds great, especially when you think of its cheap price.

Toshiba updated their portfolio with the new series of REGZA Series LCD TV, REGZA C8000. All sports 120Hz panel technology and reduced power consumption. Currently, there are three different models are available — the 42-inch 42C8000 (127kW/year power consumption, full HD 1080p resolution), the 37-inch 37C8000 (119kW/year power consumption, full HD 1080p resolution), and the 32-inch 32C8000 (95kW/year power consumption, a resolution of 1366 x 768). The first two TVs have a contrast ratio of 1300:1 and a dynamic contrast ratio of 13000:1; while the last one has a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and a dynamic contrast ratio of 30000:1. No words on pricing at the moment.

LG unveils three new LCD monitors recently. They are the 22inch W2253V-PF, the 24-inch W2453V-PF, and the 27-inch W2753V-PF. All of these displays have full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) and sports a contrast ratio of 1000:1 up to 50000:1, a brightness of 300cd/m2 (22-inch) and 400cd/m2 (24-inch and 27-inch), and DFC (Digital Fine Contrast) function. Also, the three monitors are equipped with DVI-D HDCP, D-SUB, and HDMI port.

Currently no words on pricing for all of those Full HD LCDs.

Aw, come on Samsung, I’ve just bought Omnia last month, and now you’re already going to release its successor, Omnia HD, with better display (3.7-inch QHD AMOLED @ 360 x 640 resolution), better connectivity (WiMO support), better camera module (8 megapixel), and better video support (HD video recording @ 720p and playback capabilities)? It even comes with wider media format support (DivX, XVid, H.264, WMV, and MPEG4), along with HD-quality video out and support for DLNA… The rest of Omnia HD features are the same as its big brother’s, including a built-in GPS navigation module, HSUPA/HSDPA connectivity, either 8GB or 16GB of onboard storage with microSD card slot, FM radio tuner with RDS, and touchscreen user interface.

If you want to see Omnia HD cell phone in action, you can come to Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona and give this world’s first handset with 720P HD video recording and decoding capability a try. According to the company, this phone also holds the world’s largest AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen, so right now, no handset can beat the viewing experience you get from using Omnia HD; which include unrivaled sharpness of tone, vivid colors, greater clarity in direct sunlight, and less power consumption.

Fortunately, Samsung Omnia HD cell phone will use Symbian S60 5.0 operating system, something that I’ve been avoided for the last couple years. If the company decides to stick with this OS, I guess I’ll keep my Omnia in place…

Sony unveiled the new flash-based camcorders, HDR-CX100, featuring a 4 megapixel CCD sensor, an 8GB of onboard storage (enough for couple hours of motion) with Memory Stick Pro Duo slot for external memory, a 10x optical zoom lens, and a 2.7-inch LCD screen. This camcorder supports Full-HD resolution video recording, guaranteeing a high-quality movie-recorded result for your memorable moment.

Other video recorder announced by Sony this week includes Sony DCR-SX60 (16GB), DCR-SX41 (8GB), and DCR-SX40 (4GB) models.

It seems that Full HD resolution is becoming a standard on LCD monitor’s products. Like the newest display from Greenhouse, GH-ACH243SHB, that comes with a full 1920×1080 HD resolution, along with a nice contrast ratio of 1000:1 (or up to 30000:1 in DCR mode), a brightness of 300cd/m2, and a host of interfaces, including DVI-D (HDCP), HDMI, and D-Sub.

Greenhouse’s 23.6-inch GH-ACH243SHB LCD monitor is retailed for 32,800 Yen in Japan or about US $371.

Buffalo unleashed a new 22-inch Full HD LCD monitor named FTD-HD2232HSR/BK. Scheduled to hit the store in the next few days, the display boasts a resolution of 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA), a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, a brightness of 300cd/m², a viewing angle of 170°, and a response time of 5ms. When it hits the shelves, you can bring it home for €280.

Samsung Series 8 is another new full HD LCD TV from Samsung. At just 44.mm thick, the TV offers a USB 2.0 port, four HDMI inputs, Full HD Motion Plus Technology, DLNA, WiseLink Pro, and content library. Like its sibling, Series 8 also blessed with an interesting feature call InfoLive, which allows users to read real-time information (news, weather, sports, etc) right on their TV screen. No words on pricing and availability unfortunately.

Measures 381 x 127 x 305mm and weighs 5kg, Sanyo PLV-Z60 HD LCD Projector features a 3LCD technology, a resolution of 720p, a contrast ratio of 10,000:1, a 2x optical zoom, and a brightness of 1,200 lumens. Moreover, the projector allows an image projection of 100-inch and is also equipped with 12-Bit digital processing IC for video decoding process, two HDMI interfaces, two component-d, S-Video, and composite connections. PLV-Z60 is scheduled to hit the store in September and retailed for €880 (about $1,274).
