[CEATEC] Toshiba Gigabeat V401 PMP

Toshiba showcased “Gigabeat V401″ portable media player during CEATEC 2007 event. This PMP device features a 4-inch display, built-in 1-Seg TV tuner for watching your favourite TV programme everywhere, music and movie player (WAV, WMA, WMA 9 Lossless, MP3, WMV, JPEG), build-in games, and karaoke software. It comes with 40GB of HDD, enough for storing hundreds, even thousand, of media contents. Moreover, a built-in stereo speaker and compact stand are included as well.

Toshiba Gigabeat T400 PMP

Toshiba will soon start shipping its Gigabeat T400 Portable Media Player to United States market. According to the company’s recent official announcement, the device feautres a 2.4-inch LCD display, a 4GB onboard storage, anda battery life that lasts for up to five hours of movie and up to 16 hours of music. It supports WMV, MP3, and WMA (incl. WMA Lossless) media formats and capable of restoring lost detail in MP3 and WMA compressions. There’s also a 1-bit digital amp and filter reduce background noise technology for richer and clearer sound quality.

Toshiba Gigabeat T400 PMP will be retailed for about $120.

Toshiba Gigabeat V41 PMP

Toshiba recently updated its Gigabeat series PMP with the new “Gigabeat V41″. This portable media player comes with a 3.5-inch QVGA display providing a bright and clear screen for watching your favourite WMV movie. There’s an integrated 1Seg TV tuner module that gives access to your should-watch-list TV programme everytime everywhere. A direct recording is possible as well, in which the recorded video will be stored on its 4GB onboard memory or on a SDHC card (up to 8GB supported). Measures 115 x 75 x 14.2mm and weighs 168 grams, Gigebeat V41 support the following music playback: MP3, WMA, and WMA 9 Lossless.

No words on pricing and availability.

Toshiba Gigabeat U DAP

Measures 76.7 x 36.2 x 11.4mm and weighs 46 grams, Gigabeat U is the new DAP series from Toshiba. Apart from the slightly modified design, this MP3 player also sports the new LSI (TC94A82XBG) which is claimed to deliver a better audio quality. Other features include a built-in FM radio tuner and supports for popular audio formats (MP3, WMA, and WMA DRM10). This player is available in version: U102 (1GB) and U202 (2GB).

Toshiba Gigabeat S30 PMP Review

Finally there’s an English review of the most anticipated Toshiba’s Gigabeat S30 (MES30VW) Portable Media Player (PMP) from cnet (link below). Incorporates Microsoft Portable Media Center (PMC 2.1), the HDD-based entertainment features a 2.4-inch (320×240) 65K colors QVGA LCD, 30GB of storage capacity, audio playback (MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, WAV), video playback (MPEG-4, AVI, DivX, MOV – automatically transcoded in Windows Media Player 11), WMA subscription services (Napster, MTV Urge) support, picture viewer (JPG/JPEG), FM radio tuner, TiVo To Go compatibility, and Media Center recording. Measures 3.93 x 2.36 x 0.58 inches and weighs 4.8 ounches, Xbox 360-users may also connect and control the Gigabeat S30 PMP using their gaming console.

Priced $269.88 at Amazon, some of the dissapointment found on Toshiba’s Gigabeat S30 PMP are the missing audio and video recording capability (even direct FM radio recorder not available) and the very poor battery life (12.5 hours of audio playback and 2.5 hours of movie). Too bad.

Toshiba Gigabeat P5S and P10S MP3 Player

A quick update from Toshiba regarding their MP3 player product, the Gigabeat. The P-Series under this brand has received an extra three new colors with a storage capacity variants between 512MB and 1GB. Thankfully, there are some new features too – the FM radio tuner, the new watch capability, and auto power-off function (this is quite handy). Measures 31.9 x 13.2 x 82 mm and weighs 50 grams, these audio players offer 14 hours of battery life.

I’ve tried to find any detail or additional information about this on Toshiba’s web site, but nope, nothing there. But you can still enjoy some more pics of the new Gigabeat P-Series MP3 player below, after the jump.

Toshiba Gigabeat S30 and S60V MP3 Players

Remember the Gigabeat S-Series MP3 players we mentioned earlier this year? Well, it’s finally ready to release on the Japanese market. This highly anticipated MP3 player – more into PMP I think, since it can also play video – come in two variants, the 30GB S30 model and a huge 60GB S60V model. Thaks to the “Windows Mobile software for Portable Media Center (PMC)”, the S30 and S60V can support WMA, MP3, WAV, WMV, and MPEG2 format. Of course the standard FM radio tuner capability also included.

According to Toshiba, these two players will be available in Japan near the end of the month. The S30 measures 59.9×99.9×13.2mm for 127g whereas the S60 measures 59.9×99.9×16.2mm for 140g.

Toshiba Gigabeat P5 MP3 Player

Toshiba has recently announced their new MP3 player under the Gigabeat series. The P5 model, or dubbed as the CanCam edition, features a color OLED display, a unique “plus-shaped” navigation button, 14 hours of continuous playback, and support to MP3, WMA, WAV, and JPEG image files. Measures 31.9 x 13.2 x 82 mm and weighs around 49 grams, Gigabeat P5 is available in two flavours, the shiny gold and the sweet pink color. It also has two capacity variants, one with 512MB, and other with 1GB of storage.

The Gigabeat P5 MP3 Player will be relased on February 25th in Japan (hey, that’s today!) with a starting price at US$123.

Toshiba Gigabeat S Series PMP

Toshiba Gigabeat S Series PMP (Portable Media Player) sports a large 60GB of storage capacity as well as a bright and vivid 2.4-inch TFT LCD screen. You can watch your favourite TV shows by downloading recorded TV programs from TiVo Series2 or feature-length movies from movie studio Web sites, listen to the music (WMA, MP3, WAV) and download album art from online music providers, and tune into your preferred FM radio station with the built-in unique FM tuner feature. There’s a TV out port so you can enjoy the TV shows you’ve just downloaded on the big screen.

Gigabeat S Series PMP is powered by a Freescale i.MX processor. The battery provides 20 hours of audio playback and 5 hours of video playback. It will hit the store during Spring with two variants capacity (30GB, 60GB) and three flavours (Metallic Blue, Piano Black, and Piano White). No words about the price yet.

Toshiba Gigabeat 20GB X20K – King Kong Edition

Toshiba has released the King Kong edition of their digital audio player, Gigabet X20. Named Gigabeat X20K (K for the King Kong I supposed), it’s out as a limited edition and comes with a King Kong engraving on the back, five King Kong wallpapers, and a King Kong themed card board box. Apart from all of those King Kong stuffs, X20K is similar to the X20 model.

You can watch the King Kong trailer @ The Movies Collection. It looks like a very good movie. A must see for me.
