Gateway Unveils P-6301 and P-6822 Laptops

P-6301 and P-6822 are two new laptops from Gateway, as mentioned by the company’s recent press relase. These 17-inch P-series entertainment notebook PCs are scheduled to hit the store through major retailers on October 14th. Weighs 8.34 pounds (incl. six-cell battery), each model comes with 3 x USB ports, a 5-in-1 media card reader, WiFI connectivity, a 1GB of main memory, a DVD burner, an integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, pre-installed Windows Vista Home Premium OS, and a 17-inch widescreen display with a resolution of 1440×900.

Onto the detail, Gateway P-6301 laptop sports an Intel Pentium Dual Core T2310 (1.46GHz) processor, GL960 chipset, and a 160GB of 5,400rpm HDD. While the other one, Gateway P-6822, boasts an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, an Intel GM965 chipset, a 250GB of 5,400rpm hard drive, an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, and a HDMI connector. Price is set at $799.99 and $949.99 respectively.

Gateway FX8020 Workstation PC

Gateway presented a monster workstation PC, FX8020, which boasts a powerful Intel Q6600 (2.4GHz) quad-core processor. The price starts at $2,100 (base configuration) and what you’d find inside this expensive machine are a 2GB of DDR2 main memory, a 512MB Radeon X1950 graphics engine with CrossFire technology, a 500GB of hard drive. It also comes with Gigabit Ethernet support and pre-installed Windows Vista Home Premium Edition operating system. Not bad for a two thousand bucks computer.

Gateway E-155C Tablet PC

Gateway recently released E-155C, its latest 12-inch widescreen tablet PC. Powered by the new Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 (1.06GHz) ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) processor, this convertible notebook supports both digital pen and touch screen input provided by Watcom. Technically speaking, this machine is based on Intel 945GM chipset and features an Intel GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) 950 graphics engine, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, up to 120GB of 5,400rpm SATA hard drive, and either a DVD/CD-RW or DVD burner. It also supports a wide-range of connectivity options, including 802.11a/b/g WiFI, Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth, and 56K modem.

Moreover, E-155C Tablet PC is equipped with a fingerprint reader, 2 x USB ports, VGA port, PC Card slot, Firewire, a 6-in-1 media card reader, and a port replicator connector. There’s also a Mobility Center button that gives users one-touch access to mobility settings, but only if it used with Windows Vista OS (note that the pre-loaded operating system is Windows XP Tablet PC Edition). The display itself offers a resolution of 1280 x 800 and an anti-reflection polarizer for keeping the screen readable even under the direct sun light.

Weighs between 4.5lbs to 5.07lbs (depend on battery capacity and optical drive presence), Gateway E-155C Tablet PC is currently retailed for $1,849 (base configuration).

Gateway Upgrades E-100M Laptop With Intel Core 2 Duo U7600 ULV CPU

With the launch of the new Core 2 Duo U7600 Ultra-Low Voltage processor from Intel, computer manufacturers have started to upgrade their products with this new powerful engine. One of the first OEMs to integrated the CPU is Gateway. As reported by eWeek, the company has updated its E-100M laptop with the Merom U7600 ULV, featuring a 1.2GHz clock speed, 533MHz FSB and a 2MB of L2 cache.

The rest of the specs remain the same as its predecessor. Including a 12.1-inch display, a 512MB of DDR2 RAM, a 40GB of SATA hard drive, WiFI connectivity, and Windows XP Prefessional Edition operating system. The laptop will be retailed for around $1,350.

Gateway NX270S Laptop With Vista Home Basic

If you’re looking for a cheap Vista-powered laptop, check out the NX270S notebook from Gateway. At just $599.99 (after $100 rebate), this 14.1-inch widescreen (1280×800) laptop is pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home Basic operating system. However, don’t expect a high-perfomance machine as it comes only with the minimum specs to run Vista — Intel Celeron M430 processor and a 512MB (2×256MB) of main memory. I guess everyone who have used Windows before already realize that they should never run the OS using the minimum requirement.

Customers must also aware that one of the coolest feature in Vista, Windows Aero 3D, won’t be enabled in Gateway NX270S. The reason is because the laptop uses ATI Radeon X200 Express graphics engine which isn’t on ATI’s list of Aero-compatible video cards.

Other features include a 60GB of hard drive, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive, WIFI, Ethernet LAN, integrated 56K modem, an ExpressCaard slot, three USB ports, VGA out, and a 4-in-1 media card reader.

Gateway NX570 Laptop

Gateway has just updated its NX series line-up and added the new NX570 laptop. This merom-based 15.4-inch notebook offers an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics engine, up to 2GB of RAM, up to 120GB of hard drive, and dual-layer DVD burner. Unfortunately, its 6.32 pounds weight and 1.4-inches thick might avoid those customers whose looking for a compact and portable machine.

With a battery lasts for up to 6 hours, the Vista-ready NX570 laptop is also equipped with Windows XP operating system, an integrated 56K modem, WiFI connectivity, and Gigabit Ethernet LAN support. Retail price starts from $900 for the base configuration.

Gateway NX100X Laptop

Gateway have just unveiled their latest laptop, the NX100X model. This thin and light notebook features a 12-inch wide-screen display with 1280×800 max resolution, Intel’s Core Solo 1.06Ghz or 1.2GHz processor (why not Dual Core??), and Intel GMA graphics chipset. Well, not quite the top of the notch for todays laptops standard. The recently release Toshiba’s Satellite M100 notebook is probably much better than this NX100X. It might be sufficient enough to run general productivity tasks like writing office document or such, but don’t expect it to work (properly) with 3D graphics editing software or advanced 3D games.

Gateway M285-E Convertible Laptop

Here’s the second new laptop from Gateway, the M285-E series. Like the CX210 series, this notebook also features a nice combination between laptop and Tablet PC. Powered by an Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology with Intel Core Duo processor of course, the M285-E offers a Digital Pen Computing – which mean you use your handwriting to store notes, draw diagrams, and even write documents – , a 14-inch widescreen magnesium LCD display, and a long battery life (up to 8 hours of usage). Being the successor of the best-selling M280 notebook, also with Tablet PC capabilities, the company expects this new convertible laptop to be as successful as its big brother. According to The NPD Group’s data for the weeks of October 9, 2005 through March 26, 2006, Gateway has took more than half (54%) of the Tablet PC market with their Convertible Notebook products.

Gateway CX210 Tablet PC

Gateway, a popular PC company in US (but not in my country), has just unveiled two convertible laptops or tablet PC. One is this CX210 series and the other is the M285-E series (I’ll write about it later). Being the successor of the award winning CX200, the CX210 sports a unique design that would let users to switch from a notebook to a tablet PC easily. It is powered by an Intel Centrino Duo Mobile processor, SATA hard drives, and Dual Channel memories. For your eyes, you’ll get a 14 inch widescreen magnesium LCD with either ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics or standard integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics card as the engine.

Other highlighted feature is the digital pen’s Continous Sensing Technology. This technology delivers a very crisp writing with excellent accuracy, which is very essential, especially for a tablet PC. I have a cheap graphic tablet at home and the sensitivity and accuracy aren’t quite good. It’s a real pain when it comes to drawing, you know.

Furthermore, the Gateway CX210 laptop is equipped with several connectivity options, from 802.11a/b/g WiFI, Bluetooth, to the standard USB 2.0. This notebook or tablet PC, whatever you call it, will be available later around the end of May next month.

Gateway CX200 Notebook Review

LaptopMag recently posted a review of the Gateway CX200 notebook that comes with a widescreen display. Priced $1,399, the laptop comes with a DVD burner, 7-in-1 memory card slot, and pen-based input device. It’s quite heavy (6.8-pound), so it may not be your good friend during a long travel. On the inside, the laptop is powered with a 1.7-GHz Pentium M processor, 512MB RAM, and 60GB hard drive. The graphic card is integrated with the board though.

Excerpt from the review:

What separates the CX200 from the big-screened convertible crowd is that this system’s display uses the more popular widescreen aspect ratio, which means you’ll be able to watch a DVD the way it was meant to be seen, work on two open windows at once, and minimize horizontal scrolling when surfing the Web and working on spreadsheets. Too bad the viewing angles aren’t as tall as they are wide; the display washed out if it wasn’t positioned the right way when working in notebook mode.
