The VGF-DT1 is a new external Digital TV tuner for Windows PC from Sony. As an accessories of the recently released VAIO TP1 Media Center PC (I’ll post about this later), this tuner offers a variety of AV outputs, including Ethernet LAN and HDMI. However, no WiFI, so don’t expect to able to stream the TV programme wireless between rooms in your house. The good side, it is able to record and transmit video in either DR (24Mbps), HR (12Mbps), SR (8Mbps), or LR (4Mbps) modes.

Measures 270 x 270 x 51mm and weighs 1.7kg (that’s quite heavy for a TV tuner), Sony VGF-DT1 External TV Tuner is currently available in Japan for 50,000 Yen or around $415.
