I recently visited a phone store nearby which specialized on selling handset from China and damn! All of those mobile phones from China / Taiwan look real hot! I’m not sure about their quality and perfomance though since I don’t have any experiences with made-in-China phone, but I really envy their appearance. I’d give my hat tip for this new “1688″ PDA from Century Sutra as well. Eventhough I don’t have the detail of its specs yet, but a combination between a built-in NES Emulation system and dedicated gamepad are somewhat innovative. Super Mario anyone?

And here goes another PMP device which will satisfy both multimedia enthusiasts and gamers. Ainol’s V1000 is a portable media player that comes with built-in NES emulator. You know what it means, guys! Get ready to play all of your favourite classic games anytime anywhere! Besides taking you back into the world of Mario Bros, the sleek and stylish device would also entertain you on the road. You can hear your favourite music (MP3, WMA, FLAC) or watch the movie (AVI, MPEG-4 @ 30fps). Those media files can either be stored on a SD card or inside its onboard storage (512MB and 1GB capacity variants are available).

Other features include a 2.5-inch QVGA LCD display, a 400MHz ADI Blackfin processor, and simple five button control layout. No words on price and availability yet.

iRiver H300-Series MP3 Player Capable of Running Gameboy Color Emulator

An interesting video recently has floated around the web, showing a Gameboy Color Emulator runs under iRiver’s H300-series H320 MP3 player. You can check the video after the jump. The player itself offers a 2.0-inch (220×165) TFT LCD, FM radio tuner, voice recording, line-in recording, and 20GB of HDD (40GB version also available). This portable media player supports audio playback (MP3, WMA, ASF, OGG), movie playback, and picture viewer (JPG, BMP). Measures 4 x 2.5 x 9 inches and weighs 6.5 oz, the 20GB version is retailed for $329.99 while the 40GB player is available for $429.99.

Iwod G10 PMP With NES Emulator

Iwod G10 – not related to iRiver G10 – is a Portable Media Player (PMP) that comes with a built-in NES emulator. Of course, a NES emulator is not something special. We’re sure you know that you can also play NES games on your Symbian’s smartphone or your PSP. But at least this one is integrated on the device, so you don’t have to do any works yourself. Simply load your favourite games’ ROM and you can enjoy playing the game on its large and bright 2.5-inch LCD screen at 320×240 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

The Iwod G10 PMP device itself supports AVI and MPEG4 for video playback; MP3, WMA, and FLAC for audio playback; and JPEG, GIF, and BMP for photo viewing. It comes with 256MB of onboard memory, but if that’s not enough (well, obviously not enough), you can use your SD card (up to 1GB) for additional storage space. Finally, the built-in li-on battery provides up to 10 hours of video or 30 hours of audio playback, thanks to the smoothstep technology.

Measures 90 x 66 x 15.5 mm, the Iwod G10 PMP is now available in China for RMB1188 or around US$147.

Play That Old DOS Games Using DOSBox

Remember my previous post about 400 DOS games that are free to download? If you have trouble make them run on your current OS, try using DOSBox. DOSBox is a DOS-emulator that uses the SDL-library which makes DOSBox very easy to port to different platforms. DOSBox has already been ported to many different platforms, such as Windows, BeOS, Linux, and MacOS X. DOSBox also emulates CPU:286/386 realmode/protected mode, Directory FileSystem / XMS / EMS, Tandy / Hercules / CGA / EGA / VGA / VESA graphics, a SoundBlaster / Gravis Ultra Sound card for excellent sound compatibility with older games.

You can “re-live” the good old days with the help of DOSBox, it can run plenty of the old classics that don’t run on your new computer!

Run Windows and Linux on PSP using x86 Emulator

Using Bochs x86 emulator you can emulate Intel x86 CPU. Furthermore, Bochs can be compiled to emulate a 386, 486, Pentium, Pentium Pro or AMD64 CPU, including optional MMX, SSE, SSE2 and 3DNow! instructions, as quoted from their website below:

Bochs is a highly portable open source IA-32 (x86) PC emulator written in C++, that runs on most popular platforms. It includes emulation of the Intel x86 CPU, common I/O devices, and a custom BIOS. Currently, Bochs can be compiled to emulate a 386, 486, Pentium, Pentium Pro or AMD64 CPU, including optional MMX, SSE, SSE2 and 3DNow! instructions.
Bochs is capable of running most Operating Systems inside the emulation including Linux, DOS, WindowsÂ® 95/98 and WindowsÂ® NT/2000. Bochs was written by Kevin Lawton and is currently maintained by this project.

2 days ago, Bochs has been ported to PSP by Matan. Not completely finish yet, but it means, now you can have your favourite OS on your PSP, including Windows and Linux. And of course, x86 games will soon be playable on your PSP.

PSP-Hacks.com is reporting and hosting a PSP emulator for windows. You can now play PSP programs on your home PC. Next step will be to play the previously leaked UMD ISO’s on your own computer.
