Just a quick news about Buffalo’s latest external DVD burner, DVSM-PN58U2V. This slim drive, mainly used with netbook, measures 137 x 20 x 142mm and weighs at just 340 grams, so you can put it on your netbook bag without feeling an extra weight. Available in black and white color, the burner can record data on both DVD-DL and DVD-RAM media. Note that since it uses power from your computer’s USB port, I recommend you to use both of your laptop’s USB port (one for supplying power to the drive and another for transferring / receiving data). In my experience (I owned an external DVD burner from LG), using only one USB port for both data and power is not enough…

Measures 165 x 205 x 38mm and weighs 900 grams, Green-House GHV-PDV740 portable DVD player sports a 7-inch display with 480 x 234 resolution, a USB interface, and the ability to play xVid, MP3, and WMA media formats. Nothing special here, but if you need one, this one is retailed for around €100.

God bless Sanrio! After a while, we finally able to see a brand new Hello Kitty-themed gadget at store. This one is a red-colored Hello Kitty Portable DVD Player which looks totally cute. Coming with a red-colored remote control, the player sports a 7-inch display with a resolution of 480×234, a built-in 200mAh rechargeable battery that lasts for up to 2.5 hours of playback, and support for DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD, CD-R, and CD-RW formats. No words on pricing unfortunately.

The new 11.8-inch SDP120DT Portable DVD Player looks so sexy. Displayed during IFA 2008 in Berlin, the device comes with a hand-holder on top, making it easy to carry arround. Even better, if you’re out of movie collection, you can turn on its digital TV tuner (DVB) and watch your favourite TV programme.

Ready for the summer, the waterproof DVD ZABADY (product number: VD-J713CW) from Twinbird is an all-in-one portable DVD and TV combo player. It comes with a 1Seg TV tuner, a 7-inch (480×234) display, and an IPX7 standard waterproof specification which allows users to bring the device down to 1 meter max for a maximum of 30 minutes.

Other feature include an SD media card slot (up to 2GB), a built-in MP3/MPEG-4 player, and JPEG photo viewer.

The new Portable Super Multi Drive from Amex Digital can burn your data onto DVD-R/+R at 20x write speed and on DVD-R/+R dual-layer media at 10x write speed. You can plug it to your PC, laptop, or Mac’s USB port (the burner has USB 2.0 interface) and start recording right away. Other feature is called Quiet Drive Technology, which reduces audio and video playback noise levels.

Amex Digital Portable Super Multi Drive is available immediately and can be purchased for 55€ (about $87).

Priced at €80 (about $122), Toshiba SD-590J DVD Player features support for MP3/WMA audio files, DivX video files, and JPEG picture images; HDMI output, 1080p image reproduction, 192kHz/24-bit audio DACs and 54 MHz/14-Bit video DAC. You can expect to purchase it in nearby store in the middle of this month.

Pioneer HTZ-373DV Combo DVD Player / 5.1 Surround System features a 1080p HDMI output, support for Dolby NR Digital, Dolby NR Professional Logic II, and DTS formats, and audio (MP3 and WMA) playback. It is equipped with a 30W main speaker and five 60W surround speakers. No words on pricing.

Here goes another alternative for those whose currently looking for a DVD-DL recorder, the DVRP-U8XLE from IO-Data. This burner can store your data on the DL media at 4x write speed, and 8x speed on regular DVD-R. It measures 138 x 143 x 21mm and weighs 380 grams.

So you’ve purchased the ticket for best position in the stadium to watch your favourite team play. But sadly, they’re play is really really bad. In this situation, all you can hope is that the person in front of you has bought and brought this Stadium Seat TV/DVD Player with him.

If only it was a REAL stadium seat.

Unfortunately not.

It’s just the latest creation of Brionvega, called the Alpha. Basically, it’s a 19-inch LCD TV with a built-in DVD player and an iPod-like remote control. And a stadium seat-like shape.

Available in orange, silver, or black, the Alpha LCD TV/DVD Player is available for €1,950 or about $3,000.
