The answer is probably a cell phone. The country has a long standing tradition of people having their prized possessions placed alongside them in the coffin. But nowadays, the current “trend” of these people of the Republic of Ireland is to take their mobile phones to the grave. According to one undertaker in Dublin, the reason is due to the fear of being buried alive, so when it (accidentally) happened, one can quickly grab the phone and call his/her family or friend to help him, well, if they’re not too afraid to think that they have received an incoming call from a “death” person.
