Wow, this one is surely interesting. A mix between an espresso machine and a Nintendo Wii nunchuk. Yuppp, the world’s first Wii Nunchuk-controlled espresso machine! It is made of a Rancilio Silvia espresso machine, an Arduine micro-controller, and some high-end hacking. Coffee Table Fish Tank

Another must buy, well, at least for me. This is a Coffee Table Fish Tank or in other words, an aquarium inside a coffee table. Manufactured by Clear-Seal, this tank comes with a toughened glass top that has polished rounded edges. It has either a reproduction or mirror corner section that covers the filter and lighting system. For the “indoor” decoration, the aquarium is equipped with light diffuser (the one in the corner to illuminate the tank, the one under the tank is optional), fine and coarse biological sponges, plastic filter cover and acrylic table top support blocks which are designed to minimize sound vibration coming into the tank.

Four different table sizes are available. The smallest is 34.5 x 34.5 x 16 inches (priced £899.95) while the largest is 58 x 34.5 x 16 inches (£1,149.95). An additional bottom plinth diffuse costs around £50.

According to the manufacturer, the Coffee Table Fish Tank is suitable for the following coldwater fish: Black Moors, Bubble Eye, Chocolate Pom Pom’s, Comets, Fan Tails, Orandas, Shubunkin or small Koi.

The Agitor – Let’s Agitate The Coffee

The Agitor is another concept of automatic coffee stirring. It can be implemented to any kind of cup, mug, etc. There’ll be a button located on the buttom of a cup that can be pressed, thus causing the contents to become “agitated”. Technically, it involves a small pocket of space, surrounded by a soft plastic membrane, at the bottom of the cup. The membrane has small holes, allowing the liquid to fill the space. By pressing on the space from the below the cup, it forces the liquid back out of the holes, thus “agitating” the contents.

The Agitor is designed by Creighton Schlebach. You can also use it for other stuff too, like soup, chocolate milk, tea, etc. Check out the More link below for several video clips about the products.

Self Stirring Mug

I love coffee. But sometime I’m too lazy to prepare and stir it. Fortunately, I’ve found this Self Stirring Mug. I still have to prepare the water and the coffee, but at least I don’t have to stir it myself. It has a “Stir” button on the handle, and if I press it, the built-in propeller in the base of the mug will start stirring my coffee.

This stainless steel mug is not just for the coffee. I can also use it for tea, hot chocolate, or even soup. A must-have kitchen tool. At least until the day I have a (beautiful) wife who’d be glad to make coffee for me.

Coffee is Good For Your Health

According to a study released Sunday, coffee is good for your health. Coffee not only helps clear the mind and perk up the energy, it also provides more healthful antioxidants than any other food or beverage in the American diet. Of course, too much coffee can make people jittery and even raise cholesterol levels, so food experts stress moderation.

The person behind the coffee study is Joe A. Vinson, a chemistry professor at the University of Scranton, in Pennsylvania. He explained that mostly people are getting antioxidants from beverages. Unfortunately, antioxidants, which are thought to help battle cancer and provide other health benefits, are abundant in grains, tomatoes and many other fruits and vegetables.

The best source for antioxidants, concluded by the study, is coffee. The average adult consumes 1,299 milligrams of antioxidants daily from coffee. The closest competitor was tea at 294 milligrams. Rounding out the top five sources were bananas, 76 milligrams; dry beans, 72 milligrams; and corn, 48 milligrams. According to the Agriculture Department, the typical adult American drinks 1.64 cups of coffee daily.

Furthermore, Vinson said that the antioxidants in coffee are known as polyphenols. Sometimes they are bound to a sugar molecule, which covers up the antioxidant group. The first step in measuring them was to break that sugar link. He noted that chemicals in the stomach do the same thing, freeing the polyphenols.

“We think that antioxidants can be good for you in a number of ways,” including affecting enzymes and genes, though more research is needed, Vinson said. “If I say more coffee is better, then I would have to tell you to spread it out to keep the levels of antioxidants up,” Vinson said. “We always talk about moderation in anything.”
