<p>Just a quick news about Buffalo&#8217;s latest external DVD burner, <strong>DVSM-PN58U2V</strong>. This slim drive, mainly used with netbook, measures 137 x 20 x 142mm and weighs at just 340 grams, so you can put it on your netbook bag without feeling an extra weight. Available in black and white color, the burner can record data on both DVD-DL and DVD-RAM media. Note that since it uses power from your computer&#8217;s USB port, I recommend you to use both of your laptop&#8217;s USB port (one for supplying power to the drive and another for transferring / receiving data). In my experience (I owned an external DVD burner from LG), using only one USB port for both data and power is not enough&#8230;</p>

<p>LF-PB271JD is the latest Blu-Ray burner from Panasonic. It&#8217;ll be available in store starting from November 10th with a price tag of around €300. Regarding specs, this SATA-based drive can store your data on a 50GB BD-R2 media at 4x speed, as well as DVD-RAM at 5x and DVD±R DL or DVD+RW disc at 16x. Additionally, it comes with an 8MB of internal buffer.</p>

<p>Sony Electronics has just announced that its second generation of internal Blu-Ray (BD) recorder, BWU-200S, will be soon released in U.S. According to the press release, the drive can burn data at BD-R media @ 4x, as well as traditional DVD+R @ 16x. With this speed, full 50GB of data can be moved to BD-R disc in about 45 minutes, which is half of the time required in its first generation model. BWU-200S will be bundled with Cyberlink BD Solution software, providing a comprehensive application for capturing, authoring, editing, burning and viewing high-definition personal content captured in the native HDV 1080i format from an HDV camcorder. In addition, the software supports recording on DVDs and CDs, as well as playback of DVDs recorded in the AVCHD format.</p>

<p>Sony BWU-200S uses Serial ATA (SATA) interface and comes with standard 5.25-inch form factor. It is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista operating system. The burner will be ready for purchase next month, directly from sonystyle.com website, for about $600.</p>
