Priced at $32 and currently only available in Japan, the software, that is based on Opera desktop browser, is available on a DS cartridge. Simply insert the card into a WiFi enabled Nintento DS, connect to a network, and you can start browsing your favourite web sites on its dual screens. Of course, you can expect a superior speed and web pages rendering on the DS, just like what you get on the desktop.

“The incredibly popular Nintendo DS is already Wi-Fi enabled to support real time gaming, so adding Web browsing capabilities was a natural evolution for this device,” says Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President, Opera Software. “Gaming devices are growing more advanced and a great Web experience is becoming a product differentiator for gaming manufacturers. Opera is excited to work with Nintendo to deliver a unique dual screen, full Internet experience on Nintendo DS.”

But do you know that you can also control your car online using your web browser? Well, at least I just know about this.

This service is offered by Guidepoint. Recently, on their press release, they announced that they have launched a new service that lets drivers track and control their vehicles with a cell phone, BlackBerry, or other Web-enabled wireless device. Using Guidepoint wireless access protocol (WAP) service, subscribers can unlock doors, start the engine, and honk the horn through any web browser, including from PC. Also, the vehicle tracking service can display a map pinpointing the vehicle location, as well as a text readout of the street address where the vehicle is located.

Hmmm, that sounds nice. I surely can use it to show off to <del datetime="2005-10-31T02:10:26+00:00">babes</del> my friends

Some websites require IE to get through. It doesn’t matter if you still use IE. But what if you already (make a good decision and) switch to Firefox? Those IE nightmares will come back to haunt you. No tabbed browsing, insecure ActiveX component, spyware, adware, and many more. All of those are the reasons you leave IE, right?

But now there’s Foxie (what a cute name). Foxie is a collection of free security, privacy and productivity tools developed by the Foxie Team. It was originally designed to bridge the gap between Internet Explorer and Mozilla FireFox (an open source web browser developed by the Mozilla Foundation) but soon grew in scope and size to offer additional unique features not found on any stand alone browser.

Moreover, as described on Foxie website, Foxie empowers you to browse faster, more safely and more efficiently than with any other browser by blending tabbed browsing, ads & pop-up blocking, Malware cleansing and privacy & security protection with our smart search capabilities to enhance your browsing experience. Foxie is not a web browser and fits seamlessly into your IE browser.

To make a long story short, Foxie is a collection of useful add-ons for IE. With Foxie, your IE will be almost as good as Firefox. So whenever you need to use IE, make sure you’ve installed Foxie. Safer and better.

Screenshot below:

In its latest annual report, Microsoft has for the first time taken note of the threat posed by the popular Firefox browser. They mention about Firefox in a section on competition for the Client unit. Microsoft not only noted its traditional operating system rivals, such as Unix and Linux, but also for various components that are a part of Windows, such as its media player.

“Competitors such as Mozilla offer software that competes with the Internet Explorer Web browsing capabilities of our Windows operating system products.”

Microsoft said that they believes, both current and future versions of Windows, will “continue to compete effectively with non-Microsoft browsers, media players, and other non-Microsoft programs.“, as stated below:

“We believe our operating system products compete effectively by delivering innovative software, an easy-to-use interface, compatibility with a broad range of hardware and software applications, and the largest support network for any operating system,”

The next head-to-head web browser battle between Mozilla and Microsoft will be started soon. Mozilla is planned to release Mozilla Firefox v1.5 next month (September), while Internet Explorer 7 will be released no later than the summer 2006.

As far as I know, Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta 1 is currently only available for beta testers and MSDN subscribers. But if you really want to give it a try, grab it here.

What’s New:

Dynamic security protection through a simplified architecture that defends against malware, and new dynamic ways to protect against personal data theft from fraudulent Web sites (a practice known as “phishing”).

Improved design to make everyday tasks easier and faster, with better navigation through tabbed browsing; inline search right from the toolbar; shrink-to-fit Web page printing; and a streamlined, redesigned user interface (currently in its early stages in Beta 1).

New tools to take you directly to the information you want through support for Web feeds (RSS) that includes automatic discovery of web feeds (RSS) on Web pages, basic Web Feed (RSS) reading capabilities, and basic support for saving Web feeds (RSS) as a new kind of favorite.

Platform enhancements for developers to improve compatibility and manageability, including improved support for Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) as well as transparent PNG support.

Me? No, I’m not going to download it :p
