Alienware launches two new gaming desktop PC, the “Area-51 ALX” and “Aurora ALX”, both with optional 64GB Solid State Drive (SSD). SSD technology allows faster and better system perfomance, compared to standard hard drive. However, since this technology is practically new, it won’t come cheap. To be exact, you have to pay an additional $1,700 for SSD.

Area-51 ALX features an Intel Core 2 Extreme processor, dual 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX graphics engine in SLI mode (or GeForce 8800 Ultra if you want), up to 4TB (4 x 1TB) of SATA HDD, a dual-layer DVD burner (or opt-in for Blu-Ray burner), 8 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x FireWire ports, and HD Surround sound audio engine. Measures 19.01 x 9.97 x 25.02-inch, the desktop PC is priced at $4,999 (base configuration).

As for Alienware’s Aurora ALX desktop PC, it has almost similar specs as Area-51 ALX, except that it uses AMD’s Athlon 64 X2 dual-core CPU. The machine costs $4,099 each.

Both Area-51 ALX and Aurora ALX desktop pcs comes with either Microsoft Windows XP Professional / MCE 2005 or Vista Home Premium / Ultimate operating system.

Alienware has just announced the addition of 64GB SSD (Solid State Disk) onto its high-perfomance Area-51 M9750 series laptop. SSD technology allows data to be stored on a solid-state memory which eliminates seek time, latency, and other electro-mechanical delays and failures. The result is of course, faster data access, faster boot-time, and faster application launch time.

The Area-51 M9750 laptop itself feautres an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, an Intel 945PM + ICH7M-DH chipset, up to 4GB of DDR2 667Mhz RAM, either a single 512MB nVidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics engine or dual 512MB nVidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX and nVidia nForce 100 graphics engine in SLI mode, and either Windows XP or Vista operating system. Connectivity options include Gigabit Ethernet, integrated 56K modem, Bluetooth 2.0, and 802.11a/b/g WiFI. Measures 15.65 x 11.75 x 1.5-inch and weighs 8.5lbs, the machine is also equipped with 17-inch widescreen display, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, Express Card slot, IEEE 1394 port, and a 4-in-1 memory card reader (SD/MS/MSPRO/MMC).

The price starts from $2,099 for the base configuration.

Alienware now offers 200GB of 7200rpm hard drive option onto some of its laptop series, including Area-51 m5550 and Aurora m9700 (picture above) gaming notebook PCs. This new disk promises up to 33% perfomance increase during boot time, file transfer, and application loading over a 5,400rpm hard drive. Definitely a must for gamers.

With a starting price of $999, Alienware Area-51 m5550 laptop offers a 15.4-inch widescreen display, a 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, a 256MB of nVidia graphics engine, a 667MHz DDR2 RAM, a 8x dual-layer DVD burner, and up to 200GB of hard drive. As for the 17-inch widescreen Aurora m9700 machine, it is equipped with an AMD Turion 64 processor, an nVidia graphics engine in SLI mode, a 400MHz DDR RAM, a 8x Dual Layer DVD burner, and up to 500GB of storage. The price starts from $1,599.

Received the news from Alienware yesterday. It said that the company now offers the overclocking option for the Merom-based Area-51 m5790 and m5550 gaming laptops. Upon purchasing either notebooks, priced respectively at $1,299 and $1,049, customers would receive a higher processing perfomance of Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor incorporated at the machines. Furthermore, the Area-51 m5790 model also comes with a 17-inch display and ATI Mobility Radeon X1900 graphics engine, while m5550 laptop has a 15.4-inch screen and nVidia graphics.

By safely increasing processor clock frequency above default levels, Alienware ensures mobile users are equipped with more speed for everything from faster system startups to smoother-running games and applications while on the go.

Just received the latest Alienware’s newsletter in my inbox, and it seems this popular gaming PC manufacturer now runs a campaign for its Area-51 Desktop PC. Not just you can get a $100 discount for each specs worth at least $2,300, you’d also receive a monster gaming machine with pre-installed Windows XP Professional Edition OS and 2142 Battlefield game. Of course you can expect a high-end configurations, even on the standard package which is priced $1,599, such as Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (1.86GHz) processor, a gigs of RAM, a 160GB of SATA HDD, a 256MB ATI Radeon X1600 graphics engine, and a large 17-inch LCD monitor. So where’s the Superman’s part? It’s on the case, guys! This Area-51 laptop will come with a limited-edition case artwork of Superman and some exclusive Superman extra stuff (not sure what it is though). It will run under Windows XP Media Center Edition operating system and priced at $2,539. for the basic configuration. Wish I can borrow Superman’s power to steal the laptop as I definitely don’t have enough money to buy it.

The Area-51 m5700 notebook powered with NVidia GeForce Go 6800 graphics card, dual Serial ATA hard drives (available in RAID configuration) and Windows XP MCE (Media Center Edition). It uses a wide 17″ ClearView LCD and priced $1,399.

The second one, the Area-51 m5500 notebook, comes with smaller screen, 15″4 LCD. It is equipped with NVIDIA GeForce 6600 Go graphic card. Weighs six pounds, this laptop is sell at $1,049.
