Imagine this. You were practising your pole dancing skill with the portable PeekABoo pole. You felt like you’re such a great dancer, so you kept on moving and moving, and then, you slipped. Your legs were broken, and you have to go to the hospital. The problem is, in the next couple minutes, you have to meet your boss on the Yahoo! Messenger to talk about important office work, or you’ll get yourself fired. The only to solve this is by calling the AMR (AmericanMedical Response), an ambulance service provider that provides WiFi access inside the vehicle. So you can carry your laptop along, and while the sexy nurse tries to “fix” your legs, you can send a nice emoticon to your boss on the messenger.

Well, that’s a lame scenario for sure. But anyway, the new revolutionary technology offered by AMR is surely a breakthrough in the patient – hospital services. Dubbed as “In Motion Technology”, it pairs a cellular internet backhaul connection and WiFi driven mobility outside the vehicle. The paramedics can then use their laptop or PDA to enter the patient data / information and transmit it to the hospital. By the time the patient reaches the hospital, the doctors have all the information that the paramedics have, so they are more prepared to offer care.

The system can also be used by ambulance operators to help their drivers and paramedics. The cellular link can be used to provide better information and even routing capabilities.

You can read more about In Motion Technology here.
