Clarion, a Japan-based company, yesterday released two new portable navigation systems (PNS), the DTR-P50 and DTR-P70 (picture above). These two satnav devices sport a 4.3-inch display, a 2GB of onboard storage with SDHC port for additional storage, Bluetooth connectivity, and media player supporting both audio (MP3, WMA) and video (WMV, MPEG-4) files. They are powered by a 400Mhz processor and run on WinCE 5.0 operating system.

Clarion recently introduced MiND during CES 2008 event in Las Vegas. Stands for “Mobile Internet Navigation Device”, MiND is a combination between a multimedia player, GPS navigation, and web browser. It is powered by Intel’s Menlow platform (usually found on UMPC) and boasts as the next generation GPS navigation device. Users can connect to the world wide web through WiFI, but with its Bluetooth connectivity, you can pair it with your Bluetooth-enabled cell phone and connect to the internet through its 3G network. In the future, the company is going to include built-in 3G and WiMAX capability as well.

Clarion is going to release its latest high-end in-dash PMP Navigation system, MAX9700DT, in late June this year. PRiced at 341,250 Yen or about $2,850, it sports a 7-inch widescreen LCD display, a 1Seg TV tuner for watching satellite broadcasted TV programme, a digital radio receiver, and a navigation system that can communicate with various digital TV broadcasts to direct to certain shops. Weighs at just 198 grams and measures 132 x 90.5 x 22mm, the device relies on the famous SiRF Star III GPS receiver chipset. Furthermore, it features a 4.3-inch colors LCD display (supposedly touchscreen), a SD card slot (up to 2GB supported), and built-in audio/video player.
