Sony launches three new laptops, under its VAIO brand, in UK. They are VAIO AR50 Series (VGN-AR51SU), VAIO FZ20 Series, and VAIO L Series. The first model features a 17-inch LCD display with Full HD support, Blu-Ray disc, an integrated hybid digital/analogue TV tuner, an Intel Centrino Duo processor, and HD decoding capable hardware. Regarding VAIO FZ20 Series, this laptop boasts a 15.4-inch display and similar HD playback. And finally, the VAIO L Series offers an integrated slot-in Blu-Ray drive in an ultra-slim body.

Sony VAIO UX1 UMPC Goes To UK

Sony has just announced that one of its UMPC product, VAIO UX1, will make its debut in UK very soon. With the estimated street price of $2,500 (or GBP 1,300), the ultra mobile computer offers a 4.5-inch touchscreen display, a 32GB of Flash memory, a 1GB RAM, and an Intel ULV (Ultra-Low Voltage) processors. It also has an integrated dual camera module, three USB ports, AV-Out and VGA ports, iLINK, and a handy sliding QWERTY keyboard design. Furthermore, users can use the device in either portrait or landscape screen orientation.

Asus R2 Ultra Mobile PC

The new R2 Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) is one of the star of the Asus booth at Computex 2006 exhibition at Taipei. Features a large 7-inch WXGA LCD display which is much better than the 4.5-inch screen on Sony VAIO UX series UMPC, the R2 offers an integrated GPS module, up to 60GB of HDD, Wireless LAN and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR connectivity, as well as built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam. However, the company is still working on the battery and trying hard to provide more life on it. Asus claimed that, when it releases, the R2 UMPC can be used for more than 2 hours of continous usage.

Sony VAIO VGN-UX17LP Mobile Pocket PCAfter the VGN-UX50 model, Sony now presents another ultra-mobile pocket PC. Still under the VAIO U range, here’s the VGN-UX17LP model. Claimed as the world’s smallest and lightest PC, this mobile PC features an Intel Core Solo U1400 (1.2 GHz) processor, 512MB of RAM, 30GB of HDD, and 4.5-inch (1020×600) WSVGA Clear Bright LCD display. Like its big brother, the VGN-UX17LP will be packed with biometrics fingerprint sensor and integrated camera module as well. But instead of one, users will have two cameras which would be useful for doing video conference. Too bad there’s no detail about the camera’s sensor quality.

Sony VAIO VGN-UX50 Pocket PC

Sony unveil their latest mobile pocket PC product under the VAIO Type U range, the VGN-UX50 model. Measures 150 x 32 x 95 mm and weighs 520 grams, this little PC is powered by Intel Core Solo U1300 (1.06GHz) processor, 512MB of RAM, and 30GB of HDD. For having some fun, it is equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera module and biometrics fingerprint scanner. Thanks to the lithium-ion battery, the VGN-UX50 Mobile Pocket PC can have up to 3 hours of usage.
