For those of you who have bought a new PSP-3000, there is some great news on the homebrew front. Thanks to PSP developer MaTiAz, a new savegame exploit has been found in the PSP game Gripshift £79.24 (US version) (US version only.

Word from the front is that the popular homebrew project, BakonICE, is steaming ahead, and its developer, NoEffex, has made version 1.80 available to us peons.

The second problem is with the sound, those speakers are still not up to the job. There are still rumors that Sony are working on yet another new version of the PlayStation Portable, which they will hopefully address these problems.

PSP 5.00 Firmware and PS3 2.50 Firmware Are Now Available

Rejoice PSP and Playstation 3 owners, the new firmwares for your lovely gaming consoles are now available. The latest firmware for PSP, version 5.00, features support for Playstation Network that allows users to access the Playstation Store and download content directly to their PSP, a sleep timer function, full screen keyboard, and new XMB background design. Sony unveiled the updated version of PSP during their E3 keynote. Don’t bother expecting a brand new PSP 2 this time since the new PSP is just a redesign of the original PSP. What you’ll get is a slimmer and lighter portable gaming machine, improved battery life, faster loading times, and TV video output. There’s also an anti-piracy system as well.

Sony Releases PSP 3.0 Firmware With Support To PS3

Sony Japan has just released the new version of PSP’s firmware, v3.0. It boasts a tight integration with the recently released PS3, such as the ability to view images and play music sotred inside the PS3’s hard drive, as well as Remote Play function which lets you replace the PS3 controller with your PSP. By upgrading to the v3.0, your PSP will be also compatible with the upcoming add-on camera. Other new feature is the Auto UMD setting which prevents a game from loading when the UMD is inserted.

Blue and Silver PSP Coming Soon

Sony is going to boost the sales of its portable gaming console, PSP, a little bit further by releasing the Blue (PSP-1000 MB) and Silver (PSP-1000 SV) edition of PSP. Both devices will be retailed in Japan for 20,790 Yen, the same as other color variants (white and original black). The Silver version will go on sale starting from December 14th, while the Blue one will hit the store a week after that, on December 22nd.
