My girlfriend asks me to buy her a new compact notebook to replace her old Axioo VL-624C laptop. I still don’t know what model to buy (considering the one from Sony, but it’s way too expensive), but I think I’m going to offer her this new one from Samsung, Q310. Two of Samsung’s most anticipated laptops finally enter Korea market, the Samsung Sense X360 and Sense X460. The former, weighs 1.29kg, sports a 13.3-inch LED backlight display, a Solid State Disk, three USB ports, HDMI out, a 7-in-1 media card reader, a fingerprint reader, an Intel Centrino 2 processors, and an Extended Battery Life (EBL) function that provides up to 10 hours of usage. As for the Sense X460, it boasts a 14.1-inch LED backlight display, a DVD (or Blu-Ray drive, depend on the model) burner, and an nVidia GeForce graphics engine. Which one would you choose?

Intel has finally unleashed the brand new Centrino 2 (a.k.a Montevina) notebook platform. It is available in two versions: customers and professionals (vPro). The non-profit OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) organization is start selling the OLPC’s XO laptop today in United States and Canada markets through “Give One Get One” porgram. Between November 12 and 26, anyone could buy two XO laptops for $399. One of them will be donated to a child in a developing nation, and the other one could be kept for themself (or their own children) in recognition of their contribution.

Targetted at price-aware customers, the notebook offers high-end perfomance and reliability at a low price (under $800). It is perfect for home office-based and small businesses, as well as educational segments. What you’ll get are a mix of Intel Pentium Dual Core T2130 processor, a 120GB HDD, a 15.4-inch display, Atheros Super AG(R) Wireless LAN, a dual-layer multi-format DVD burner, a spill-resistant keyboard, and either Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista Business edition OS. Definitely not a bad choice for a low-budget machine.
