There is not doubt that Joanna Stern is quite happy to have the Gigabyte M912 arrive in her office and the unboxing confirms that euphoria. I can’t say I blame Joanna, the Gigabyte M912 is a great netbook with a swiveling 8.9-inch

The Gigabyte M912 is a netbook that is catching a lot of attention as it’s the first (I believe) 8.9-inch netbook with a swiveling touchscreen. Throw in its respectable $700 price tag for all of that functionality and it’s easy to see

Tech Report got their hands on the Gigabyte M192 netbook or nettablet and reviewed it. What conclusions did they come up with? How much did they really dislike it? Well, find out for yourself.

Gigabyte's new M912, on the other hand, is as close to a true original as any netbook we've seen. Like most popular netbooks, the M912 sports a 1.6GHz Atom processor paired with a 945GSE chipset and mechanical storage.

The first thing we noticed about the Gigabyte M912 is the glossy black lid, complete with a silver square inlay pattern that looks like some kind of sci-fi circuit board. We wish Gigabyte had released the M912 in the Mondrian-like color

Showcased during Computex 2008, Gigabyte M912 Netbook sports an 8.9-inch touchscreen display that can be rotated 180 degrees just like a tablet PC. For the storage, it uses a traditional 250GB HDD, but customers can opt-in for a Solid State Disk (up to 4GB) if they prefer. Furthermore, weighs at just 1.2kg, the mini notebook is also equipped with an ExpressCard slot, an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, and either Windows Vista or Linux operating system.
