Testing Deer Park Alpha 1

Ok, I got enough guts today to try on the new alpha release of Firefox, called Deer Park Alpha 1. I don’t want to uninstall my old Firefox, so I install it on different directory. Everything works just fine at this phase.
After that, I executed Deer Park. A dialog pop-upped, said that certain plugins extensions won’t work in this version (not compatible) and will be disabled. Okay, that’s fine. Continue. Now, the main browser window displayed and well, it’s the same as Firefox browser window. Oh, except the title bar that said “Deer Park Alpha 1” instead of “Firefox v1.0.4” and the About dialog :p The menubar and menu item is also the same, but the Options dialog is different. Not really different because the content is the same, just the icon is now on the top part, not on the left anymore. The good point is, Deer Park used my old configuration from Firefox, so I don’t need to change anything.
Now here come the strange part. Web Developer plugin extension is included on the Deer Park installation package, so I assume that it won’t cause any problem. But I was wrong. The ‘Disable Image’ option on the Web Developer toolbar doesn’t work
It still display image eventhough I alredy checked the option. Also, since the Tab Preference plugin extension is not yet compatible with Deer Park, I can no longer make FireFox (ok, Deer Park) to open new tab when I enter URL on the address box.
Oh, one more strange phenomenon. If Deer Park application is running, opening Firefox application will open a Deer Park application, NOT FireFox. Vice versa, when FireFox is opened, executing Deer Park will opened another FireFox application, NOT Deer Park. Funny isn’t it?
I’m on my way to uninstall Deer Park right now. The new features are great, especially the extended JavaScript support, but Alpha 1 release is still not for end-user like me (yes, I know that Mozilla already mention that this release is mainly for plugin developer). I’m a big fans of Firefox, so I’ll surely install Deer Park when it finished later. Oh, and hopefully, it will also support XHTML 2 that is really cool
