According to Yahoo! Search blog, Yahoo! has launched a beta network of their ad-network for small-and medium-sized published, called Yahoo! Publisher Network Self-Serve. This service is much similar to Google AdSense, but will use human-editorial judgement to the selection of ads for content pages. In this beta stage, membership currently available via invitation only, and limited to US publishers. They expect to extend the beta to more publishers by the end of the year.

“I’m proud to announce today that Yahoo! has launched a beta network in the U.S. for small- and medium-sized publishers. Currently available through invitation only, as Yahoo! tests and refines the new platform, small- and medium-sized publishers can easily sign up online and access new revenue sources and enhanced Yahoo! content through our new self-serve platform. This new service will surely make the competition between Yahoo! and Google become stronger. There’s a chance for Yahoo! to take back the web search domination after it has been taken by Google for the last several years. Especially because this human-judgement method will probably much better than Google’s technology for determining what ads are related to publisher’s content. Yahoo! already made a groundwork on this area by releasing Y!Q, code that analyzes the text of a Web page and shows search results based on its content, earlier this year.
