Intel is going to release Santa Rosa, the upcoming Centrino laptop platform, in May. First introduced to public during Intel Developer Forum back in September last year, this next-gen platform is designed to be usd with Intel Core 2 Duo (codenamed Merom) processors and will have up to 700Mhz FSB (front-side bus) which can be dynamically reduced and raised, depend on the workload. Also known as Centrino Pro, Santa Rosa will probably come with an integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3000, forthcoming 802.11n Wireless standard, along with “Robson” flash memory-based hard drive cache. Unfortunately, the formerly claimed built-in 3G wireless solution from Nokia has been canceled.

Along with the new Santa Rosa notebook platform, Intel will also unveil new Core 2 Duo Mobile processors in May, with support for Centrino Pro’s 800MHz FSB.
