Will this beat Skype? Not sure. But it does look promising. The NetZero VoIP is a new internet phone service that recently join the free PC-to-PC market. Like other similar services, NetZero VoIP offers PC to PC calls, PC to landline/mobile phone calls (or vice versa, paid service), and also instant messaging. Another features are Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Caller ID, Unified Messaging/VoiceMail with phone/Web/email/SMS access, Call Blocking, and Follow Me. Additionally, it also offers free email account with 2GB storage.
Voice over IP (also called VoIP, IP Telephony, Internet telephony, and Digital Phone) is the routing of voice conversations over the Internet or any other IP-based network. The voice data flows over a general-purpose packet-switched network, instead of traditional dedicated, circuit-switched voice transmission lines. [ source ]
