How To Keep VoIP Connected

Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony is the hottest thing going these days, but unfortunately, the telephone adapters that power your VoIP service require AC power to operate. That means that when your power goes out, so does your phone. Luckily for you, it’s easy to keep your VoIP line running even in a power outage, if you have a battery backup.

You’d typically use a battery backup to keep your PC running during an outage, but it’ll also power most any device. If you connect your DSL or cable modem, your router, and your phone adapter to a battery backup, your VoIP line will continue working through a power failure. Because these devices draw very little power compared with a PC, even an inexpensive battery backup will power them for several hours.
