ATI makes overclocking some of its GPUs ridiculously easy. If you’re running a model that ATI believes can tolerate a higher frequency, simply launch the Catalyst Control Center (using the Advanced option) and click the Unlock icon to activate the company’s Overdrive utiliy. Although ATI officially warns that it won’t be responsible for problems occurring as a result of using OverDrive, using it has no impact on your warranty.

Click the button labeled “Run automated clock congiuration utility” and the software will sequentially step up the clock speeds on the memory and GPU to the maximum values the components can tolerate. Place a checkmark next to “Preserve ATI Overdrive settings at logon“, so that the settings stick after a reboot.
