USB Memory Stick TV Tuner

Terratec USB Memory Stick TV TunerThis is probably the smallest TV tuner available on the computer market right now. Terratec’s memory stick TV tuner, Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS, has about the same size of a memory stick (dimension: 80×30x15mm) , but provides mobile analogue and digital television. Of course this would be an ideal peripheral for those who travel a lot.

Terratec’s TV tuner even include a 48-button remote control, which is larger than the TV tuner itself, and compact DVB-T aerial. Simply plugged the USB into any USB-equipped computer, connect your regular house antenna or analogue cable connection, sit back, and enjoy your TV and radio.

With its small size, unfortenately, the hardware features are relatively limited. No built-in Dolby Digital audio decoder (AC3) or subtitling teletext. No support for six-channel audio output and both PIP (Picture In Picture) and POP (Picture out of Picture) modes. No digital video inputs or video outputs, so you can’t record from DV camcorders or route video and sound to external A/V devices.

However, Terratec’s memory stick TV tuner still a great choice if you want a portable solution to turn your laptop into a Media Center PC. I’d definitely buy one if it’s already available in my country.

The retail price is £129 (inc. VAT). You can order it from Terratec website (link below).
