Toshiba New LED Backlighting System Provides Smaller Notebook Screen

Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology (TMDisplay) has developed a new LED backlighting systems which results in smaller notebook panel modules that use cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) backlighting. The new technology is able to bring a module with thickness of just 2.75mm, about one-half the thickness of existing notebook. One of the product that already use the new backlight system, 11.1-inch wide-format low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) TFT LCD panel, has started its mass production stage.
As stated by the company, the new LCD can fully display DVD movies and TV program and motion picture content with high image quality.
