Kyocera Offers EV-DO PC Card

Kyocera EV-DO Passport PC CardKyocera Wireless announced the first CDMA2000 /1x EV-DO PC Card named the Kyocera Password or Kyocera KPC650. This card is currently available to Canadians through Bell Canada.

The Password, when installed in your notebook, will provide a high-speed wireless data access of up to 2.4 Mbps. Not just that, it will also offers broadband access to corporate applications, e-mail, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and browsers. Additionally, Passport’s high-performance antenna design allows for higher data rates and improved coverage nationwide, particularly in low signal areas.

Kyocera’s EV-DO PC Card will only work when used inside EV-DO coverage area. Of course you will also need to subscribe to existing EV-DO service too, like Sprint Power Vision service. However, the CDMA2000 supports will burst users’ download speed up to 153 kbps on CDMA2000 1X connections outside of EV-DO coverage.

Measures 2.13 x 4.84 x 0.51 inches and weighs 2.01 ounces, the Kyocera Passport 1xEV-DO PC Card is priced at $99 on a 36 month contract with Bell Canada.
