How To Reset TP-Link TL-WA601G Wireless Access Point

Sponsored Links

I’ve just purchased a wireless access point, TP-Link TL-WA601G, for my office. I need an access point because my office building has three floors and on the third floor (main office room), the WiFI signal (the router and modem are located on the second floor) is getting weaker. At first I want to bought the one from LinkSys, but the price is far more expensive (twice than TP-Link’s). And since I still need to save some cash for buying LCD projector, I choose TP-Link.

But disaster begin after I changed some of TP-Link’s settings. One of them is the IP address since its default IP is the same as my Asus WL500G-Premium WiFI Router. But then my Vista crashed and I can’t access the access point anymore.

The only solution to this problem that came into my mind was resetting the device. The problem is, even after following the complicated hardware reset procedure, it won’t reset. Anyone know why?

Btw, here’s the strange step-by-step procedure to reset TP-Link TL-WA601G Wireless Access Point device:

  • Turn on the device.
  • Press and hold the reset button.
  • Turn off the device.
  • Release the reset button.
  • Press and hold the reset button again.
  • Turn on the device again.
  • Finally, wait until 20-30 seconds before releasing the reset button.

Why won’t the company create a normal press-the-reset-button-for-couple-seconds procedure for resetting the hardware to the factory setting default?

I just bought yesterday this wireless repeater. I set it up as 192.168.2.xx and after I just wanted to set it back to 192.168.1.x What I did was, to press the reset botton for 10 secs, and after I saw the lights re-starting over.

    Firmware Version:
    2.15.4 Build 080325 Rel.41832n
    Hardware Version:
    WA601G v1 00000000

Do you all have the same firmware? as a curiosity!

    Hello All,

I have a linksys router that is connected to Internet. I recently bought a TP-Link (TL-WA601G) with a TP Link outdoor antenna as I am placing it in another building which is more then 150 meter far from my linksys router. My intention is to get Internet connection from my linksys router to my TP-link one.

I configured my TP-Link router on wireless point to point bridge with AP mode on. It worked very fine and I was able to connect to Internet with no problem. The problem is that I can not keep my linksys router insecure. When I configure the security of my linksys router the connection between my linksys and tp-link breaks off. I wanted to find proper path in my TP-link configuration to put the wireless security password of my linksys in order to gain access, but there is no option for that in my TP-link firmware. I wonder if anyone could help me with a solution. I tried to upgrade my firmware it did not work.

    Thanks
    Aimal
